The Advanced Analytics Programmer/Analyst will play a critical role on the Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) team. This role is responsible for healthcare data programming and analytics in support of 1) developing health economic, clinical and outcomes evidence for CRHF products, therapies and services, 2) developing policy insights, business strategies, business models and market access tools, and 3) developing standardized processes for use of real-world data assets. This role will be called upon to support multiple therapy areas across the CRHF portfolio.

A Day In The Life
  • Partner with HEOR, Clinical, and Research & Technology colleagues to execute on projects supporting the development of evidence, insights and tools across the CRHF portfolio.
  • Process, load and maintain large, observational databases
  • Design, code, test, execute and document SAS/SQL programs for data characterization, validation, quality assessment, analytic dataset creation, data transfer and reporting
  • Extract, clean and conduct high-level analysis of administrative, claims, electronic health record and device data under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop, validate, and implement standardized reports, tables, coding algorithms and clinical condition hierarchies
  • Link data assets from multiple environments/sources
  • Provide technical consulting for research projects of high complexity
  • Assist in analyzing programming needs for project proposals and guide personnel in formulating appropriate data requirements based on knowledge of data sources, data use agreements, data limitations
  • Promotion of and adherence to data governance processes
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of current programming and statistical analysis techniques as they relate to the use of observational data
  • Develop basic therapeutic and device knowledge and apply this knowledge to business needs
  • Prioritize and effectively manage several projects simultaneously
  • Meet project deliverables and timelines
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (Coding, Reimbursement, HEOR, Market Access, Clinical, Research & Technology, IT)

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related scientific field 
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with observational data and with large healthcare datasets including electronic health record and administrative claims data
  • Or an advanced degree in economics, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related scientific field  and 0 years of experience
Nice To Have
  • Demonstrable healthcare data domain knowledge (i.e. experience working with ICD codes and CPT codes)
  • Expertise in SAS/SQL programming
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in healthcare industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, insurance, hospital, health system)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to communicate complex analytical techniques in a way that is understandable by non-quantitative audiences
  • Experience in the analysis, synthesis, and presentation of complex data from multiple sources
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with use of data visualization software (e.g. Spotfire, Tableau)
  • Experience with programming and analysis of therapeutic or diagnostic device-collected data
  • Experience with R or scripting languages (e.g. Python, Visual Basic)
  • Experience with Medicare data or Optum data
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization
  • Proven relationship-building and maintaining skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
