Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible to ‘Business Partner’ closely and strategically with the Business Unit leader(s) to prepare the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), prepare quarterly forecast revisions, calculate quarterly sales incentive payments (SIP) and provide other financial management support to the BU. Candidate will be required to have strong computer skills (Excel; Access) to be able to manipulate large amounts of data.  He/she should be comfortable presenting to large audiences, energetic, results-oriented and be able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.


A Day in the Life:

  • Trusted advisor to the business and provides financial insight and guidance to key commercial decisions.

  • Member of the Finance Department providing analytical support and financial acumen to various levels of Management and other Functional areas.

  • Member of BU Management team.  Work with business on Annual Operating Plan, forecasting and strategic planning to support the achievement of AOP.

  • Review and apply generally accepted accounting policies to safe guard the company assets and ensure all revenue recognition rules are applied.

  • Maintain integrity and accuracy of AOP and Forecast revisions.

  • Provide analytical and business partnering support for the BU including financial statement analysis, gross margin analysis, business performance commentary, forecasting, and strategic planning.

  • Prepare Incentive calculations for sales, marketing and business unit leaders in business(es) assigned - including monthly & quarterly accruals, customer alignments, territory alignments and annual business alignment.

  • Support business and incentive committee to offer suggestions to help design new incentive plans for the new year.

  • Develop and maintain sales and financial reports to support business, using ERP and other sales reporting tools.

  • Coordinate and manage the Annual Operating Plan and Rolling Forecast process for all requirements related to the business supported, meeting all deadlines issued by Corporate, the business unit, and for Canada.

  • Provide on-going financial presentation support.

  • Ensure integrity of financial databases, including reconciliation's between different reporting systems and month end journal entries.

  • President’s Club calculations for business supported.

  • Create relevant ad-hoc analysis and reports to support on-going market strategies and initiatives.

  • Assist senior management and team members with multiple requests.

  • Develop and provide recommended solutions to complex problems within the Finance department.

  • Leverage key learning's from peers in Europe/US and help to implement in Canada.

  • Work on projects to improve process or cost reductions, as they arise.

  • Performs and analyzes financial modeling, economic research, trends and studies subjects such as rates of return, depreciation, working capital, cash flow, investments, and cost against budget, variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning and expense comparisons by analysis of profit and loss statements and/or income statements.

  • Prepares reports of findings and recommendations, compiles and consolidates financial plans and provides insights to management.

  • Develops, maintains, and establishes operational specifications for financial information systems considering such things as information flow, volume, ad-hoc reporting, and analysis.

  • May provide analysis on business development and may monitor business performance by unit, division or group.

  • Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR).

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with accounting/finance focus.
  • Completion of CPA program.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a Finance/Accounting Department
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Comfortable and articulate in presenting financial results to a large audience.
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and increases in job responsibilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage several projects or tasks.
  • Resourceful and strong systems, data mining skills or have interest and capacity to learn new systems.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong influence management skills.
  • Advanced Excel required (macros, pivot tables).
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize systems/data to produce insightful analysis and drive prudent recommendations.
Nice to Have
  • Advanced degree in accounting/finance/business.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Working knowledge of GSR (Global Sales Reporting).
  • Working knowledge of Hyperion/Essbase.
  • Previous Business Partnering support role.
  • Experience working in a Business Unit.
