The Associate Compliance Specialist is an individual contributor on the U.S. HCP Interactions team who will support the execution of Ethics & Compliance programs related to U.S. health care professionals (HCPs). The Associate Compliance Specialist will support the Cardiac and Vascular Group (CVG) Event Review Process, interacting with the business to provide guidance regarding Medtronic requirements. This process also entails reviewing HCP events and tracking expenses as required by the U.S. Open Payments (Sunshine Act) program and other transparency obligations. The Associate Compliance Specialist will review expense data for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to Medtronic policies before entering it into the Siebel system. The Associate Compliance Specialist will also support work related to Medtronic’s U.S. needs-assessment process, reviewing HCP engagement requests to confirm alignment with fair market value. The Associate Compliance Specialist will support the review of HCP project briefs and help execute team’s Medtronic Operating System (MOS) process-improvement activities.

A Day in the Life

 

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Support the CVG Event Review Process, serving as a liaison between the business and U.S. Ethics & Compliance

  • Review event data critically for issues pertaining to accuracy or appropriateness, seeking advice as needed

  • Ensure complete and accurate tracking of HCP event expenses

  • Help answer questions related to Medtronic policy and ethical conduct

  • Take primary responsibility for the complete review and tracking of events, obtaining assistance from team members as needed

  • Provide training regarding the Event Review Process and identify opportunities for more effective communication

  • Review HCP engagement requests under fair market value guidelines and Medtronic policies

  • Review HCP project briefs under the direction of the Needs Assessment program lead

  • Promote continuous process improvement and a service-oriented Compliance organization

  • Actively support the team’s work toward problem-solving using the Medtronic Operating System (MOS) framework

  • Collaborate closely with Compliance business partners to support U.S. business functions

  • Communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, escalating issues to leadership as needed

  • Act as a positive and professional resource for teammates and business partners

  • Model a culture of ethics and integrity

  • Travel: Less than 25 percent

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree 
Nice to Have
  • 2+ years of experience in Compliance, Finance, Quality or Legal
  • Experience with MS Office suite and navigating the internet
  • Experience working at Medtronic
  • Demonstrate success navigating Medtronic organization
  • Familiarity with Medtronic products, therapies, disease states
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Open Payments (Sunshine Act) program
  • Proficiency working with Siebel CRM
  • Experience with needs-assessment (project briefs and engagement requests), fair market value, cross-border HCP engagements, or other Compliance programs
  • Experience with Medtronic systems including Spotfire, BO XI, eCATS, Expense Express, MicroEdge, PCI, Off-Label Hub, SharePoint
  • Understanding of policies and procedures related to HCP interactions
  • Understanding of regulatory framework and application of regulations to internal policies and processes
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships
  • Willingness to work with general supervision in a “fast-paced” environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation
  • Strong communication skills in writing, in person, and by phone
  • Comfort and proficiency with basic math
