As Communications Generalist you will be responsible for communications programs for Medtronic’s operations in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland). Reporting to the Communications Director, North Western Europe, you will be taking business direction from local Medtronic leadership and will design and deliver an integrated communications strategy for Medtronic in the Nordic countries. This will incorporate Medtronic’s core business and operations.You will serve as an internal consultant to local leadership across external, internal and social media communications.

Responsibilities

  • You will partner with local Medtronic leadership and the operating units to build and execute a communications plan that not only grows business for Medtronic, but also protects and enhances the Medtronic brand. In doing so, you will align closely with the Medtronic Mission.
  • You will oversee and execute the writing, editing and approval of event scripts, speeches, key documents and reports, promotional materials, press releases, interviews, FAQs and other external and internal communication materials. 
  • In partnership with your colleagues in other European countries, you define a social media approach for the Nordic countries that is aligned with the European social media strategy and local regulations.
  • You drive and execute on a local, proactive media outreach plan, across paid, owned, earned, shared channels. You act as first point of contact for local media enquiries.
  • Internally, you use a variety of channels to deepen employee understanding and engagement with Medtronic strategy across operating units and business functions located locally.
  • You work closely together with government affairs, human resources, finance, legal and regulatory affairs to achieve integrated communications plans. You ensure that all compliance and ethical standards are fulfilled.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • You gained 3+ years experience in an agency or in-house communications role, with a track record across communications disciplines; both internal/external and traditional/digital/social.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills, including ability to present concepts verbally
  • Project management and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • You are fluent in one of the Nordic languages. A good knowledge of English is essential. 

Nice to Have

  • Basic understanding of one or more extra Nordic languages is a plus.
  • Experience working for healthcare industry clients in an agency context or in-house experience in a medical device/pharma company or other heavily regulated industries.
