A Day in the Life


You partner with key stakeholders to under the legal, compliance and regulatory risks in each business unit and market. You assess business processes or technology (controls) that mitigate key compliance and regulatory risks. You provide advice on how to structure controls within the existing business environment. You design tests and monitoring activities to determine if Medtronic is in compliance with laws, regulations, and internal compliance policies. The monitoring activities take a variety of formats, such as: in person observation, data analysis, document review.


JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • Manage annual compliance risk assessment. Organize and lead discussions between business, legal, and compliance to identify risks within the organization and assess the severity and likelihood of the risk occurring.
  • Partner with commercial teams, training and education teams, to learn about business strategies and assess associated risks.
  • Understand business goals, complex and market specific challenges and tailor compliance programs, advice, and/or guidance to effectively mitigate risk based on those business factors.
  • Develop ongoing monitoring plan to test controls across business functions based on the risk to the organization of a control or process failure.
  • Test the effectiveness of the compliance program design through evaluation of compliance program and the key compliance controls.
  • Perform onsite monitoring and build relationships with front line sales teams.
  • Develop and/or leverage a variety of data and statistical procedures to test controls, monitor trends, and develop reports.
  • Communicate the results of monitoring efforts to senior leadership within the organization.
  • Collaborate with business, legal, and compliance partners to implement any required remediation efforts. Oversee the implementation of risk mitigation and/or remediation efforts based on gaps identified through monitoring process.
  • Partner with legal to assess potential external reporting obligations based on identified compliance issues.
  • Work with the APAC Country Compliance Teams and ensure full collaborations with APAC monitoring plans.
  • Mentoring less experienced members of the Legal & Compliance team.
  • General administrative matters relating to the Legal & Compliance team.
  • Any other ad-hoc tasks assigned by Ethics & Compliance Director.


Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience


Additional Requirements

  • 7 – 10 years compliance experience from Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical or healthcare background and related experience are highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal, Accounting, Finance, or other relevant qualification.
  • IT skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English language.
  • Prior compliance experience in the healthcare industry (particularly medical devices) is preferred.
  • Very strong communication skills, both oral and written including demonstrated experience working directly with a senior leadership executive team.
  • Highly developed influence management skills, including the proven ability to organize, communicate, and manage issues to a variety of levels of individuals within the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships within a matrixed environment, involving multiple functions, business units, and/or geographies.
  • Solution orientated with a “can do” attitude
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic
  • Proactive, adaptability and integrity
