Careers That Change Lives

The possibilities at the intersection of medicine and technology are endless, which means endless opportunities to make your mark on the world.  Our interns do real work within experienced engineering teams to improve lives of millions.  Here you can:
  • Collaborate on code to make it more elegant.
  • Build solutions to help doctors and patients monitor progress via telemedicine.
  • Get real world experience on a project you own.
  • Build your confidence and skills at the world leader.
  • Work with firmware, mobile, coding, verification, sensors, and testing teams.
  • Dig into huge datasets to extract value.
You have learned a lot to get here — we want you to keep growing. With our expanding portfolio of innovative products and services, Medtronic is the global leader in delivering healthcare solutions for over 70+ disease states in 150+ countries.

These are full-time (40 hours/week), paid positions that are 11-12 weeks in length. We have summer internship opportunities available across the U.S; including Minnesota, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Arizona, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Florida.

A Day in the Life

You will use software engineering tools and methods to define requirements and to design, verify, and implement your project.  Under the direction of a more experienced engineer, you will prepare plans for your own work, participate in technical reviews, implement advances in current state-of-the-art technology and identify opportunities for productivity and quality improvement.  You will test for product integration and verification, conducting those tests based on design specifications, and will prepare formal documentation.

  • Participants must be able to participate full time (40 hours/week) as part of our intern cohort:
    • Monday, June 7 - Friday, August 20
  • If you attend a Medtronic Targeted School and meet the basic qualifications above, apply on your school’s career services website to one of our engineering intern job postings by the fall deadline listed on the site to be considered for an on campus interview
