The diabetes device industry is unique in that technologies available to monitor and manage diabetes are starting to converge with consumer electronics technology.  As such, the decision dynamics are evolving: patients have a stronger voice in therapy choice, care is transitioning away from specialists, the role of artificial intelligence is elevating care, and the rise of the Pharmacy channel is disrupting our traditional strength in Durable Medical Equipment (DME).

We are seeking a dynamic, competitive and clinically savvy marketing and sales professional to drive Commercial Enablement within the US Diabetes Commercial team. The Director of Sales Enablement will lead a team responsible for the implementation of commercial marketing strategies, product and key account programs, and competitive intel response for Medtronic Diabetes. The role will partner with Global Downstream Marketing and US Sales Leadership to design and implement execution-oriented strategies to ensure commercial effectiveness.

The Commercial Enablement team supports the success of the US Sales Organization through the execution of its commercial strategy. The Director of Sales Enablement will be responsible for driving sales enablement activities tied to Medtronic Diabetes products and key account programs by partnering closely with Field and Inside Sales, Global Downstream Marketing, including Global Commercial Marketing, Global Consumer Marketing, Global Communications, and Global Commercial Operations.

The role manages a team of direct reports focused on marketing and campaign launches, brand strategy and marketing execution, program development and implementation, and competitive intel response. This role will report to the Senior Director of US Commercial Enablement.


A Day in the Life 


  • Acts as a liaison with Global Downstream Marketing and US Sales Leadership to implement marketing activities aligned to brand objectives and priorities
  • Manages, mentors, and develops team of US Commercial Enablement Specialists and Program Managers
  • Leverages experience to build capability and credibility within the Commercial Enablement team
  • Identifies tactical and strategic opportunities to improve the efficiency of product and campaign launches
  • Influences marketing initiative and sales operation strategy and planning
  • Identifies the highest value customers aligned to Global Downstream Marketing’s customer behavioral segmentations
  • Interprets and provides sales insights and supporting data to Global Downstream Marketing and US Sales leadership
  • Defines customer growth recommendations to help develop the US market
  • Oversees the coordination with Global Downstream Marketing, Sales Leadership and Sales Training to develop and execute quarterly Plan of Action (POA) meetings.

Must Have Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience


Nice to Have:


  • MBA
  • Experience in Medical Device/Biotech/Pharma industries
  • Experience in the sales/commercial diabetes market
  • Experience leading commercial execution excellence teams and cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of upstream and downstream marketing and sales leading practices for optimal coordination
  • Exhibits strong communication, interpersonal skills, time management and team building skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills; planning and organizing
  • Previous product launch and downstream marketing experience
  • Ability to partner with and influence stakeholders across the matrix
  • Experience building rapport with sales reps and sales leadership
  • Experience interacting with and building relationships with KOLs and Key Customers
  • Able to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities
