You will lead a team responsible for developing solutions to complex electromechanical challenges related to reusable surgical devices.

SURGICAL INNOVATIONS sets the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.

A Day in the Life

As an Engineering Manager responsible for the electrical engineering function within NPD you will:

  • Lead a team of electrical engineers in a new product development/R&D environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional managers to achieve critical project milestones.
  • Monitor and evaluate the completion of tasks and projects
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the electrical engineering function within New Product Development.
  • Review engineering verification reports and validation protocols
  • Collaborate with the NPD software and hardware managers to ensure system alignment.
  • Manage resource, expense, and capital budget budgets
  • Communicate project and program status to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering SMEs across multiple business units to ensure capitalize on synergies
  • Help develop solutions to complex electro-mechanical challenges related to advance surgical stapling.
  • You will apply your knowledge of FDA and International regulatory and law standards for medical devices.    
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

  • Electronic circuit design and PCB manufacturing
  • Medical Device Industry experience
  • Battery management
  • High speed motor drives
  • Sensor design
  • Sofwtare and hardware verification and validation procedures
  • FDA and international regulatory and law standards for medical devices
  • Project management fundamentals
  • System engineering and requirements management (Software/Hardware)
  • Complaint analysis and CAPA implementation
  • Cross-functional project management in a matrix organization
  • Usability and Surgical Lab/OR environment
  • Supplier interaction that leads to quality and timely output
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously
