This position will be tasked with developing and commercializing a next generation hardware/software system to support Cryo ablation in partnership with key stakeholders within our Cardiovascular Group (CVG). This position provides program leadership for the program within our Atrial Fibrillation business and will be accountable to execute against key milestones and commitments leveraging unique and differentiated technologies.

Day in the Life
  • Provide overall leadership for the console system development to be forward and backwards compatible with the cryo ablation technologies as well as be the champion for the vision of cryo system technologies
  • Accountable for management of solution’s scope, cost, schedule, and total cost of ownership including project plans, contracts, budgets, objectives, DRM Metrics, risks, and resources; accountable for ensuring team delivers all required Business Deliverables. Ensure compliance to Medtronic’s policies, and driving required system improvements
  • Oversee project decisions and trade-offs in risk and deviation management; arbitrate escalated issues. Collaborate cross functionally with manufacturing operations, marketing, sales, quality, regulatory and clinical functions. Direct the development of strategic integration plans across multiple disciplines and the execution of those plans
  • Accountable for all solution communication with key sponsors, stakeholders and project team, including BUs, BU Governance, PMO, team members, and functional leadership
  • Lead the cross-functional Core Team from recruitment and creation to dissolution including management of team changes. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the cross-functional team. Provide people management skills to lead, coach and support core team members as required to ensure solution success
  • Responsible for leadership of the Cryo Energy Source Cardiac Ablation Commercialization System.
  • Understand and lead the strategy and execution for the intricacies of launching a new system to meet market needs
  • Technical skills adequate to understand risk and scale investments appropriately
  • Able to assign resources based on business knowledge under the stress of dynamic business conditions
  • Responsible for developing the overall commercialization strategy
  • Able to create and manage key internal and external partnerships
  • Partner with internal and potential external stakeholders to develop concepts and identify potential pilot sites for commercial entry
  • Provide progress updates to key R&D and other business stakeholders on a regular and as-needed basis
  • Partner cross-functionally to assess external opportunities/options for consideration
  • Urgently drive program to market as speed to market is key for this next generation system. This requires creativity in both solutions and approach while remaining compliant to all needed medical device compliance requirements

Must Have
  • Bachelor degree
  • 10+ years of medical device development management (Medical Device Research & Development, Healthcare or Consumer IT, or healthcare technology environment)
  • 7+ years of program or personnel management experience

Nice to Have
  • MBA preferred
  • Demonsorated success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment
  • Technical skills adequate to understand risk and scale investments appropriately; capability to understand the design and manufacture of electronics and energy systems
  • Ability to create and manage key internal and external partnerships
  • Strong technical expertise in the area of healthcare technologies and business acumen within strategic planning
  • Demonstrated track record of flawless execution
  • The ability to leverage relations with key constituents to deliver tangible results
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Demonstrated effective change leadership and change management skills
  • Previous technical experience with advanced technologies
  • Professional attitude and service orientation; superb team player
  • The ability to actively develop talent and culture to achieve results
  • Temporary location will be considered but position will eventually be primarily located in the Minneapolis area
  • Position may also include up to 30% travel (domestic/international) depending on business needs
