Engineering Program Manager

This position has the responsibility and authority to actively lead Medtronic Surgical Technologies assigned projects  to achieve business objectives through use of formal project management techniques. These projects may include but are not limited to the following: developing new products, implementing compliance improvements, reducing product costs, improving customer satisfaction.
Day in the life:
• Lead cross-functional teams in achieving assigned projects/programs in compliance to Quality System requirements. Lead planning efforts for assigned projects to develop project plan, project contract, project risk analysis (including risk mitigations), schedule and budget in conjunction with the project team to achieve the project goals.
• Facilitate effective communications with project team, support team and management. This includes timely, unbiased communication of project status and issues.
• Manage project execution to achieve project plan/contract. Proactively address issues to minimize their impact to project.
• Proactively address any performance issues on the project team with the individual and their manager in a timely manner. Provide team members feedback on their performance.
• Conduct Project updates with Management in a professional and unbiased manner.
• All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
• Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Travel requirement: Less than 10%
• Responsible for planning, initiating, monitoring, tracking and/or prioritizing engineering team's product development programs or projects and facilitating successful, on-time and within budget execution.
• Sets clear direction and management that aligns with defined practices and policies.
• Works closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage the design and construction of engineering projects to ensure delivery of a product or computer-based system through the design process, and into a finished state for external customers.
• Directs day to day activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks and accountability for deliverables across multiple functional organizations.
• Establishes meaningful metrics.
• Responsible for project performance, risk management, administration, financial management, budgeting, capital planning, forecasting and issue resolution.

Must Have: Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Similar related field and 5+ years of relevant experience
- Masters degree in Engineering or Similar related field and 3+ years or relevant experience

Nice to Have
• 5+ years Quality System experience in medical device or other highly regulated industry.
• Experience in successfully leading projects or programs.
• Masters and/or MBA preferred.
• PMP Certification preferred.
• Green Belt or higher preferred.
• Ability to influence others.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated decision making skills.
• Ability to lead projects in a matrix structure.
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and across the organization.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Performance Management Leadership and Coaching Skills.
• Project management experience (including experience in a leadership capacity)
• Good Presentation Skills.
• Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly.
• Ability to manage through ambiguity.
• Strong preference for Lean/Six Sigma experience, technical experience in silicone molding, fluent in Spanish, experience with hand mechanical/bonding assembly operations, prior experience in Operations and Quality functions.
