Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a small team of cross-functional engineers.
  • Provide an overall leadership in design, execution and monitoring of the required design changes.
  • Frequently interact with and influence peer managers, internal partners, and stakeholders concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications.
  • Apply principles of Customer Focused Quality in daily activities to meet and exceed internal and external customer requirements.
  • Provides technical leadership and creates overall strategy for the team.
  • Ensures the team technical output is as per the requirements of design control and complies to Medtronic quality and regulatory standards.
  • Ensures the team’s work reflects high professional standards and functional excellence.
  • Actively participates in design, development & verification activities and including planning and testing.
  • Participates in and potentially leads other activities, such as performing risk analysis, participating in requirements, design reviews, DHF remidiation etc.
  • Lead multiple products over short duration with high level of urgency.
  • Plans and participates in hiring talent and improving team engagement.
  • Works with management to develop and contribute to the business’ technology and product roadmap.
  • Ability to influence all customers (both internal and external) on issues that impact the business and the product strategies
  • Fosters a culture of inclusion and diversity, which retains and develops team members.
  • Effectively communicates with all stakeholders.

Must Haves

Minimum Qualification

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in R&D product development.
  • B.S. Engineering required in Mechanical/Electrical
  • Must have 1-2 years of experience in leading project or small teams.
  • Must have 2 or more years of experience in a regulated industry. Medical device or domain experience is preferred.
  • Project and Time Managements skills   
  • Ability to cooperatively lead in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities. 
  • Experience in debugging issues from fielded products to determine root cause
  • Knowledge and experience using DRM/DFSS/Six Sigma -design of experiments (DOE) methodologies, hypothesis testing, capability analysis, measurement systems analysis and other six sigma methods.
  • Experience in facilitation of project level and cross-project activities.  
  • Experience working cross functionally with manufacturing, supply chain and quality functions. 
  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical engineering principles and methodologies
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Experience solving ambiguous problems
  • Experience with the design and manufacture of medical devices 
  • Experience in product design and development in an R&D environment
  • Good hands-on experience in Modeling, Drafting and GD&T
  • Experience in plastic & metallic component design and manufacturing process, tolerance and tooling
  • Good understanding of product development and general guideline regulations such as ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC60601, Design controls , robust design ( DRM )  and  ability to apply the tools  is expected.
  • Strong Leadership expectations traits for Junior Leaders (SHAPE-ENGAGE-INNOVATE- ACHIEVE)
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Good attitude and team player.
  • Demonstrated high values of ethics and integrity

Nice to Haves

  • Green Belt in Design for Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus
  • Maters in Engineering is a plus.
  • Medical device or domain experience is preferred.
