Santa Rosa Extrusion Operations is looking for an Equipment Maintenance Technician on 3rd Shift.  This position requires the ability to accomplish assignments with limited supervision, perform diversified mechanical, electromechanical or electronic technical duties in fabricating, testing, debugging and documentation of moderately complex to complex assemblies, sub-assemblies and simple engineering development models and/or adaptations of standard product and new processes and equipment maintenance.

The person that takes this role will be expected to support the Extrusion Operations to ensure extrusion process smooth production, quality compliance improvement and improve process stability. This position will be part of an off-load transfer team moving extrusion production to another U.S. Medtronic production site. Project is expected to take approximately 3 years to complete.

A Day in the Life


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on line manufacturing or plant equipment.
  • Locate and diagnose failures, replace defective components, and perform basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Maintain appropriate maintenance and repair logs.
  • Use a variety of hand, power, and test tools and equipment.
  • May redesign optical, vacuum, electrical, electronic, or mechanical systems for incorporation on existing manufacturing equipment.
  • May estimate labor and equipment costs and prepare requisitions as required.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.
  • Recommended basic job knowledge of production related systems and procedures.
Nice to Have
  • Good electrical problem-solving skills.
  • Progressive technical certifications
  • Knowledge of Plastics Processing and Plastics machinery maintenance
  • 5S and Lean Manufacturing Skills
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good mechanical problem-solving skills
  • Start-up and Troubleshoot Extrusion / compounding process
  • Ability to use bench top test equipment and custom manufacturing test stations
  • Ability to escalate equipment downtime
  • Knowledge of the English and Metric measuring systems with the ability to perform mathematical conversions to each
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to work well on teams
  • Experience with GMP requirements and medical industry requirements
  • Able to define PM procedures and review/maintain spare parts for the equipment
  • Experience in process and tooling development, test method development, data acquisition and analysis
  • Clear understanding of EHS requirements.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word
