The Equipment Maintenance Technician III works with the Facilities team at the MDT- HeartWare site in Miami Lakes, Florida. This critical position interacts daily with maintenance contractors, manufacturing, and quality folks, to ensure the site’s goals and objectives are effectively supported.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Performs installation, maintenance, and repairs on facilities equipment (HVAC system, compressed air systems, and generators).
- Works directly with maintenance contractors to maintain, repair, and execute preventive maintenance activities.
- Locates and diagnoses failures, replaces defective components and performs basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
- Maintains appropriate maintenance and repair logs.
- Uses a variety of hand, power, and test tools and equipment.
- May redesign vacuum, electrical, electronic, or mechanical systems for incorporation on existing facility equipment.
- May estimate labor and equipment costs and prepare requisitions as required.
- May manage small projects, to include supervision
- Provides guidance, training and direction to an assigned individual or group of employees/team.
- Provides input to management regarding Environmental, Safety, Manufacturing and Facilities issues.
- Creates/updates Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, etc.
- Ensures all chemicals and hazardous wastes in storage area are segregated and labeled in accordance with Site Procedure and regulatory requirements.
- Member of CERT (Chemical Emergency Response Team)
- Attends regulatory required training as indicated by the EHS Department and Training Curriculum.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
