Finance Director, Neurosurgery (RTG)

As a member of the Neurosurgery (NS) Leadership Teams within the Brain Therapies Business Unit (BU), the NS Finance Director participates in developing and executing Neurosurgery’s strategic plan and associated imperatives to drive the growth and overall success of Neurosurgery. Working closely with the Vice President, Finance for the BTx, the Neurosurgery Finance Director is responsible for co-leadership of the annual long-range strategic planning process and for leading the annual operating planning and other periodic forecasting processes, including MFR, CAPEX, FCF, business integration with SIOP/IBP, and others as they arise for Neurosurgery. As a member of the Brain Therapies Finance leadership team the Neurosurgery Finance Director participates in or leads driving functional excellence and process standardization across RTG and the BU, ensures compliance with Company policies, and collaborates across the Finance function. This position reports solid line to the Vice President, Finance for Brain Therapies. This role is located in Louisville, CO.

• Key member of the Neurosurgery Leadership Team, and assists in establishing the business strategy and leads translating it into the annual operating plan.
• Serves as a business partner to the Neurosurgery General Manager and their leadership team and their focus includes but is not limited to strategy, M&A, investment, operating activities, process development, and structure and personnel matters.  Significant decisions will be made at the BU or Group level, for example whether to consummate a M&A transaction or begin a major program, and as a result the Neurosurgery Director must be able to clearly communicate the salient facts to their business partners and those at the BU.  
• Works closely with the Vice President, Finance for Brain Therapies on all key financial processes and financial matters, and actively leverages Brain and other functional shared resources to accomplish all financial deliverables. Actively supports driving leverage and standardization, as well as elimination of work in Neurosurgery in exchange for service from Brain or others. 
• Participates on the Brain Therapies Finance Leadership Team, and in this role assists in establishing functional strategy and deploying it in Neurosurgery.
• Leads the Neurosurgery Finance team, and works with the other elements of the Finance organization to provide the appropriate levels of service and business partnership to Neurosurgery.
• Communicates operating priorities, outlooks and results to the Neurosurgery leadership team, Brain Therapies, and other stakeholders.
• Ensures financial policies and procedures are aligned with Company objectives.
• Accountable for operational decisions affecting business activities of Neurosurgery.
• Key business partnership role in the day to day activities of Neurosurgery, focused on key investment decisions, monitoring the progress and prioritization of programs and projects across Neurosurgery regardless of function, acquisition evaluations, organizational structure and headcount investments, and other efforts impacting the financial position of Neurosurgery. 
• Drives talent management within the Neurosurgery Finance team, including managing the activities of the Neurosurgery Finance team and adherence to approved budgets.
• Actively participates in Neurosurgery’s quality policy/system including participation in periodic management reviews of the quality system to ensure overall compliance as well as appropriate resources are available to effectively maintain the business’ quality system (people, facilities, tools, and training).

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have
  • MBA or CPA
  • Thorough knowledge financial analysis techniques and modeling
  • Strong systems skills (MS Office applications, SAP, Business Objects, Spotfire, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others
  • Strong influencing and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well on a cross functional business team and across a matrix environment within Finance and across RTG, Regions and Corporate
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, judgment, problem-solving and strong operational focus
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership of a large, global organization
  • Has a broad mindset and keeps the goals of the BU, RTG and MDT in mind in decision making and approach
