Finance Internal Communications Specialist

Help us develop, execute, and manage internal communications programs that drive awareness, build business acumen, and strengthen our employee engagement and culture within the Medtronic Finance function. Use your passion for storytelling and creativity to translate concepts into effective communications. Use your attention to detail and project management skills to develop and maintain an editorial calendar, manage the function’s intranet site, and lead or contribute to a variety of meetings, events, videos and written communications.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Work closely with Director of Finance Communications to support, lead or contribute to all communication initiatives across the Finance function.

  • Support storytelling by managing the editorial calendar, continually mining story ideas and leading the development of content for distribution across multiple communications channels within the function and for the global Inside Medtronic intranet site – including key Finance initiatives, priorities, values and objectives.

  • Partner with HR to support and promote a communication strategy around rewards and recognition initiatives within Finance.

  • Collaborate as needed with the Finance Optimization team to ensure key messages and content are incorporated into Finance communications platforms.

  • Coordinate logistics and content planning and execution for quarterly leadership calls and quarterly Hot Topics meetings.

  • Lead or contribute to the creation of organizational announcements, manager toolkits and core message, FAQ and RTQ documents; support presentations and meetings through creation of materials; and support the development of The Bottom Line and 5Q’s video series.

  • Oversee creation and maintenance of the function’s distribution lists and sending boxes and serve as primary point for content distribution, including a monthly news links email that drives employees to content on the Finance-for-Finance intranet site.

  • Monitor the rs.FinanceQs@medtronic.com and rs.FinanceCommunications@medtronic.com mailboxes and work with Finance team on responses.

  • Contribute as needed to executive communications in support of CFO via content development, collaborating with others across the Communications and Finance functions.

  • Provide limited support for Corporate FEC leaders, including Treasurer, Controller, and Tax and Audit leaders.

  • Ensure effective feedback and evaluation of communication initiatives via surveys and other means.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 2 years of communications experience in a corporate or agency environment with a bachelor’s degree; or, 0 years’ experience with an advanced degree
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field
  • Experience in internal communications, public relations, or related field in a corporate or agency environment
  • Excellent verbal, writing, editing and organizational skills and strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and possess strong PowerPoint skills with an eye toward visual storytelling and design
  • Healthcare industry or finance experience and business acumen 
  • Design training and/or background 
  • Video and other content production
  • Engaging, a self-starter and comfortable working with colleagues both in person and remotely, and at all levels
