The Customer Solutions Project Management Office (PMO) within Medtronic Diabetes, is responsible for improving project management by standardizing processes and improving efficiency. As a Program Manager on this team you will create and maintain project documentation and best practices, track metrics, and offer training. You will also report project progress to executives and stakeholders, help prioritize projects, and ensure all projects support the overall business objectives of the enterprise.

A Day in the Life

Project Execution

  • Lead assigned cross-functional team members in the successful execution of projects.

  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as a liaison between project management and planning, project team, and management.

  • Manage the development and implementation process of projects involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the supporting delivery of new or existing products.

  • Review status of projects and budgets; manage schedules and prepare status reports.

  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery.

  • Assess project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and intervention for problem-solving.



  • Serve as the communication link between the project team and leadership.

  • Lead communication with leadership, other functions, and business units; including appropriate risk and escalation management.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and lead the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide regular updates and strategies for executive management review and decision making around program priorities, budget, timing, resources, and assumptions, including impact on the customer, enterprise-wide resources, and revenues.

  • Engage team members to ensure effective team dynamics and mutual accountability.

  • Bring and implement program management and life cycle management best practices within the team.

Project and Budget Management

  • Lead planning meetings with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Oversee schedules, development, execution, and internal review/routing of all tactics.

  • Track and communicate status and progress against plan to stakeholders, including senior leadership.

  • Ensure that all projects are appropriately resourced – budgets, staff, products, materials, etc.

  • On-board and supervise agencies/vendors to ensure work is delivered on time, on budget, and on strategy.

  • Establish and report on key metrics for measuring success.

  • Develop, manage, and track program budgets.

Conventions Operations Support

  • Manage conference attendee lists.

  • Manage booth staffing and the coordination of in-booth presentations/presenters.

  • Run pre-conference meetings, ensuring space is set up appropriately and presenters are prepared.

  • Run on-site debrief meetings as needed

  • Manage special conference events. 

Travel no more than 25%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including project management, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience including project management

Nice to Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • MBA or Masters’ degree in a related field
  • Certification in project management
  • Experience with managing complex budgets including expenditure tracking
  • Expertise in devising and implementing streamlined processes and strategic programs to improve efficiency, timeliness, and productivity
  • Demonstrated track record of leading within complex organizations requiring strong team leadership and influencing skills
  • Experience with global consumer brand campaigns and product launches
  • Healthcare or medical device industry experience – preferably in Diabetes
  • Agility, adaptability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction
  • Ability to influence, negotiate effectively and build consensus across all levels of the organization
  • Experience managing agencies and vendors across multiple design and production disciplines
  • Experience analyzing and reporting program ROI
  • Experience with digital assets, project and workflow management systems
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Project, VISIO, and Outlook and other collaboration and workflow management tools
  • Effective change management skills
  • Effective decision-making skills - experience negotiating and balancing decisions and priorities across the needs of several functional departments and willingness to make tough decisions. Makes timely decisions in the face of risk and uncertainty.
  • Business acumen; ability to think and act from an overall “best for the business” perspective.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, and time management skills to effectively develop and execute comprehensive programs and budgets.
