The GSC Internal Communications Specialist will be the focal point and key contributor for all internal and external communications for Diabetes Global Supply Chain.  The role will report directly to the GSC leader.  As a member of the Sr Leadership Team the position will be the expert in communications to support strategic initiatives.  The role will lead a diverse range of projects in support of effective and impactful communications.  The role will provide administrative support to the GSC Leader and staff and will lead projects of strategic importance as assigned by the GSC Leader.

A Day in the Life

This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of essential job functions, but rather a general overview of the principal responsibilities.

  • Regular GSC-wide email & communications (internal) to keep employees connected to the wider MDT & Diabetes Operations

  • Write, edit, proofread printed or digital material; both internal and external 

  • Support strategic growth plans with operations, supply chain and communications

  • Participate in developing the strategic vision of GSC

  • Interact with outside partners (Medtronic and external) to ensure outstanding experience when working with GSC

  • Lead several Employee Engagement activities/special events throughout the year

  • Assist with GSC updates/projects

  • Assist with various leadership visits

  • Organize regular All Employee Meetings/leadership update meetings

  • Assist GSC leader with calendar, expense reporting, travel and other diverse administrative duties and projects

  • Prepare and facilitate staff agendas and schedules

  • Meeting minutes and tracking action items for leadership team

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Oversee Visual management 

  • Lead or assist with special events and initiatives 

  • Support/communication and development of key operational health metrics

Note: This role is funded through April of 2022, with the intention to establish a permanent role within Diabetes Supply Chain once the transformation program is completed. The permanent role has not yet been approved, and if it is not approved and you are employed though the date the role is funded you will be eligible to receive severance in accordance with the terms of Medtronic’s Severance Pay Plan in effect at the time of termination.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of internal communications experience with a bachelor’s degree; or, 0 years’ experience with an advanced degree
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or related
  • Advanced knowledge and skill set in Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc) and Adobe or other creative software
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with digital media
  • Experience with electronic meeting/calendar coordination and WebEx
  • Experience with administrative function and travel planning
  • Experience in large event and special project leadership
  • Experience dealing with confidential information
  • Experience managing change
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience and strength in project management
  • Organized, efficient, process oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion, as well as maintenance of confidentiality
  • Highly proactive, able to work independently, and motivated to perform at a high-level with little supervision
