A Day in the Life

 

The jobholder will take over responsibility to Create, develop and guide a multi-functional Health Policy and Market Access function in Medtronic Hungary to provide an effective regulatory and reimbursement environment for Medtronic to conduct its market development strategy and business in the country.

 
Key responsibilities:
 
  • Design, establish and leads operating mechanisms to ensure reaching MA’s strategic objectives on the country/cluster level through collaboration between the MA function, cluster/country leaders, businesses, clinical, regulatory and other appropriate functions.
  • Co-ordinate activities related to EU Funding with relevant stakeholders in the country and in EU.
  • Coordinate, update and execute appropriate market access and market development strategy that will enable to raise awareness and strengthen confidence in Medtronic as a partner in healthcare system transformation, focused on Value Based Healthcare solutions and vendor of high-tech cost-effective medical equipment, therapies and solutions, possessing the capacity to serve as a resource for quantitative and qualitative improvements in the local healthcare system.
  • Further develop networks with HAs, Governmental bodies, HTA agency and all relevant stakeholders
  • Identify potential opportunities for Public Private Partnerships
  • Identify and cooperate in projects with the European Commission, World Bank and other relevant financing channels in Europe and beyond.
  • Develop and further enhance local Associations of Medical Device companies as well as liaise with Amcham, US and Irish Embassy and other relevant entities.
  • Develop network of vendors/experts that will enable the development of regional strategy and execution of national programs and governmental market access activities.
  • Understands business strategies of all businesses and the importance of Market Development and Reimbursement activities for business success.
  • With Manager and Business Units, defines and executes reimbursement and funding projects for Medtronic Therapies to optimize the market access and finalize reimbursement by National Health System.
  • Defines clinical and economic value of Medtronic therapies and prepare required arguments to demonstrate this value proposition to Health Authorities and key stakeholders of the Health care system including MoH, National Payer etc.
  • Executes company’s reimbursement strategy vs. Health Authorities to ensure permanent reimbursement of therapies & solutions:
  • Designs the tactical steps required to achieve funding and execute: innovation alternative funding, clinical and economics data analysis;
  • Prepares, submits and follows reimbursement dossiers and economics argumentation for Health Authorities, including direct interaction with HE&R EMEA and BU Managers and HTA experts;
  • Monitors changes in Healthcare System
  • Conducts regular training for businesses in the following fields: health economics, market access, health care system etc.
  • Maintains/establishes a high-level professional network within the Medical Device Industry, regional and local Government authorities, Healthcare providers, parastatals, Health Economic organizations and other relevant decision-making representatives to anticipate and influence legislative trends and thereby create a stable and positive environment for Medtronic business in the country.
  • Ensures that the Company plays a strong and leading role in National Associations in the country and all advocacy and public relations decisions and activities undertaken by Associations to create a platform for defending of primary importance for the industry.
  • Conducts regular and ongoing analysis of the shifting socio-economic, political, and media environment in the country to provide management with timely reports and information on potential opportunities and threats as relates to the Company\s short and long-term business activities.
  • Proactively engages in a dialogue with key stakeholders to seek reasonable solutions to the important issues that affect Medtronic products and operations, being prepared to mount, when necessary, vigorous strategies to preserve Medtronic most fundamental business interests.
  • Oversee advocacy activities directed at the government, legislative and regulatory bodies, particularly in the areas of registration, taxation, advertising, reimbursement to create an optimal business environment.
  • Initiates, organizes and participates at high-level events to support Market Access and Reimbursement activities.
  • Positions and represents Medtronic and its businesses in the best possible way in relevant Health Care Bodies in the country as a Company committed to the country and its people.
  • Builds a platform for the Reimbursement activities within the country.
  • Works closely with the EMEA Government Affairs and Reimbursement/Health Economics team to harmonize processes across Countries.
  • Oversee and direct employee communications programs and activities, including the distribution of relevant statements and press releases issued by.

 

Must Haves and Nice to Haves:

 
Must haves:
  • High ethical standards
  • 5+ years of work experience in the local Health Care Industry and other relevant areas.
  • Successful multiyear GA/Health Economics/ Market Access/Public Affairs, Health Policy. experience within a multinational company with strong reputation in the country and/or served in the public sector on health care policy.
  • Successful multiyear experience with Politicians, local Economic organizations, and Health Care providers.
  • Health economics & HTA process knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively and deliver outstanding results in a complex cross-functional environment.
  • Out of the box thinking, excellent ability to understand and use economic analyses in creating value arguments on health care products.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills and a representative appearance.
  • University Diploma, preferable in Economics. A PhD and/or western M.B.A. degree would be an asset in this position.
  • Native local language speaker; fluent Business English (both written and oral); any other Eastern European Language is an asset.
  • Ability to travel extensively within Hungary.
  • Proven track record on developing initiatives with national or regional authorities a good established network with government institutions and preferably connected with international organizations like world bank, EU etc.
  • Competency to coach and mentor effectively
  • Competency to provide constructive feedback
  • Fluent in English and Slovak language, both written and spoken
  • Full clean driving license
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to travel extensively within the country
  • Ability to travel internationally to attend Regional SBU Team meetings and/or trainings and developmental or projects related activities
