A Day in the Life

We offer you a position where

§  What is the position about ? IT Manager- Security is responsible for providing leadership and management for the Global Security Office staff  in Bangalore.  As part of the Medtronic Global IT team, this position shall operationally report in to the Director, Medtronic Global IT & Center Leader at Bangalore and functionally to Sr. IT Director- GSO

§  In what team would this position exist ? This team is an extension of Medtronic’s Global Security Office and part of Global IT team

§  What does the team do ? The GSO team works on Security Operations, Vulnerability management, third-party risk management and Identity and Access Management- IAM.

§  What are the day to day actions performed by the person playing this role ? Providing direction and thought leadership to the team, working with global stakeholders, ensuring Service level agreement and quality in deliverables

§  Who are the teams/people the candidate will collaborate with to deliver his deliverables ? IT teams across geography and Business Units

Key Accountabilities and Skills Required


§  Provide reporting, metrics, and appropriate upward/downward escalation of key initiatives to management and councils 

§  Manages experienced information security professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments

§  Provides tactical and / or operational leadership and coaching for information security incidents, projects, and other initiatives

§  Strive for continuous improvement and consistency in deliverables; i.e. security tool availability

§  Ensure root cause analysis is established and implemented for security tool outages, including lessons learned and takeaways

§  Proposes modifications to functional operating policies and day-to-day processes

§  Works with problems and issues that can be complex, difficult and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem

§  Communicates with internal and external customers and vendors regarding ongoing operations

§  Uses information exchange, influence and active persuasion without direct exercise of command to gain cooperation of other parties

§  Participates in and/or directs staff onboarding

§  Ensures and maintains partnerships within the GSO, Global IT, and other stakeholders in the business

§  Ensure that strict standards of confidentiality and high integrity are maintained across the teams, based on the sensitivity of the work being performed. 

§  Represent the organizational unit as a prime internal and external contact on security related contracts or operations

§  Conduct briefings and technical meetings for top management and customer representatives.  Interacts with senior leadership and equivalent concerning matters of significance to Medtronic

§  Maintain a strong understanding of security technologies, risks and capabilities 

§  IT Security certifications 


Education Requirement:

§  Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering or Technology or Equivalent qualification


Years of Experience:

§  15+ years of IT experience

§  10+ years of information security experience


Specialized Skills or Experience:


§  Participation in highly complex security tool and incident management and troubleshooting
