A Day in the Life

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for managing all activities required to define, design, develop and

deliver new orthopedic products. The Core Team Leader position requires broad cross functional

knowledge and comprehensive business management skills, providing

direction and leadership to a cross-functional program development team including, but

not limited to, members with expertise from the following disciplines: product

development, clinical, regulatory affairs, quality, operations, market access, product

planning and product marketing. The Core Team Leader reports to the China

Orthopedic Innovation Center Director and is ultimately accountable to the Kanghui

General Manager & Project Review Committee (PRC) for overall project execution. 


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leads and manages cross-functional teams established for the purpose of

developing orthopedic products for the Kanghui Business Unit globally. Accountable

for program(s) from product concept through global product launch.

• Accountable to the Project Review Committee (PRC) for overall program execution.

• As products are developed as platforms, the Core Team Leader is responsible for

working across Business Units (i.e. Kanghui and Core Spine) to insure the product

meets the needs of multiple business units.

• Establishes objectives and monitors progress toward established objectives,

assesses risk and implements strategies to ensure successful delivery. Secure

resources for effective product development (people and financial). Deploys team

resources to meet program objectives.

• Manages program budget, resources, and schedule to deliver one or more programs

in a therapy portfolio.

• Maintains effective communication with the Business Unit leadership team (General

Manager and staff), team members and functional leadership (Functional VPs and

Directors) in all activities required to design, develop, and deliver the product

successfully.

• Ensures effective transition to relevant manufacturing, distribution, and commercial

entities.

• Manages core team members, although members formally report to functional heads. Provides input to team member performance reviews.

• Leads extended teams, although members formally report to functions. Core team members may be program managers leading the development of a subsystem.

• Ensures the quality policy/system is planned, understood, implemented and maintained by ensuring compliance within the scope of the program(s).

• Other responsibilities, as required.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
 10+ years of experience with a BS degree; 
 8+ years of experience with Masters Degree.

Nice to Have
 B.S. in engineering or science discipline.
• MBA Degree.
• 10+ years experience working in medical device (highly regulated) environment.
• 10+ years experience working in one or more of the following functional areas: Instrument Engineering, Healthcare IT, Clinical Research, Regulatory, Marketing, Operations, and/or Quality.
• 10+ years of Medical Device Product Development experience.
• Demonstrated strong business acumen and planning.
• 5+ years experience managing projects.
• Demonstrated excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills (oral/presentation and written).
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, quantitative analysis, and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated high degree of initiative and influence management skills.
• Demonstrated track record of successfully leading projects to completion.
• Speak both English and Chinese. Willing to locate in Shanghai or travel frequently to Shanghai.
