A Day in the Life

This position provides national level support and expertise for MRI guided laser ablation product lines.The Laser Ablation Surgery Consultant develops successful relationships with key accounts and is the point of contact for clinical issues arising in key accounts.  Provides training for locally assigned Clinical Specialists to build core competencies for laser ablation case coverage. Works closely with Sales Training and Development and Customer Education to ensure laser ablation training programs meet company and customer objectives. This individual will also represent the company in accordance with its policies and in the area assigned, maintaining an awareness of local competitive conditions and report back promptly to Manager. 

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides principle level clinical and technical expertise for the area for all assigned product lines
  • Provides educational support for physicians and hospital employees in area on clinical and technical aspects of products
  • Assists regions in performing surgical coverage and evaluations for the laser ablation product line
  • Assists the regions in opening, installing, and certifying new centers to perform laser ablation surgery

  • Ensures assigned Clinical Specialists are trained to build core competencies for laser ablation case coverage by assessing training needs and providing appropriate product training

  • Represents Medtronic during surgical evaluations and demonstrations involving products by attending cases

  • Develops successful relationships in key accounts in the area. Provides timely information to sales management regarding customer concerns, issues and market opportunities

  • Resolves clinical issues arising from key accounts in the area of laser ablation surgery 

  • Troubleshoots clinical and technical issues

  • Assists District Manager in recruiting and selecting Clinical Specialists to be trained in laser ablation surgery

  • Partners with Sales Education Training team, Customer Education, marketing and/or technical groups, and sales management to assist with the development of training programs and to provide training for field employees in regions in the area

  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships across cross functional groups including sales, marketing, education, operations, market development and sales training

  • Other activities assigned by supervisor

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED AND a minimum of 6 year’s of clinical or medical sales experience; or
  • Associate’s Degree with a minimum 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of clinical or medical sales experience. 

Nice to Have

• Strong understanding of MRI, frame based stereotactic surgery utilizing CRW /Leksell  or frameless systems
• Previous surgery coverage experience 
• Surgical MRI applications, surgical navigation, or surgical robotics experience
• Functional computer skills including; Microsoft Office, other applications and Internet
• Demonstrated communication skills
• Degree focused on Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Applied Sciences or Technical Discipline
• AART or MRIT Certification
