The Operations Excellence Deployment Leader position leads Operations Excellence (OpEx) for a micro-electronics assembly factory.  This is a staff level leadership position working with leadership on strategy, leading process improvement projects, facilitating training, organizing and coordinating the completion of OpEx projects.  The staff is comprised of Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Program Management, Planning & Logistics, Sourcing, and Quality leaders that ensure on-time delivery of the highest quality micro-electronic circuits.  The circuits are used in life sustaining implantable medical devices that treat cardiac and neurological conditions.


 A Day in the Life

  •      Drive Operational Excellence in all areas of our factory operations utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, , Visual Workplace, Medtronic Operating System (MOS) / Cell Operating System (COS) and statistical analysis techniques
  •      Lead plant improvement projects of significant size and scope and mentor project teams to complete projects on-time
  •      Assist plant management in project selection, project/team leaders that align with business/functional goals and strategies
  •      Drive and own cost savings activities and projects
  •      Communicate Operational Excellence information/news to plant personnel
  •      Lead the establishment and deployment of the Operational Excellence plan for Workflow Maturity
  •      Lead / coach COS conversion teams through COS playbook activity for a successful “Go Live” results
  •      Influence product development to Design for COS on new product introduction
  •      Coordinate, and conduct as applicable, training in key Operational Excellence and Problem-Solving areas.
  •      Lead, collaborate, coordinate team problem-solving by performing process analysis, root cause analysis and other activities aimed at having a better understanding of the problem
  •      Attend daily tiered meeting and participate actively on facilitating the process for team problem-solving
  •      Coach/perform Workflow Maturity assessments across the site 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • OpEx Training/Certification (Green Belt, Black Belt)
  • Solid implementation experience in Lean with value stream transformation experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of business operations and/or plant manufacturing or engineering experience, which includes 3+ years of demonstrated process improvement program success.
  • Experience leading High Maturity (COS) transformation projects, preferred.
  • Solid performance as a project manager.
  • Strong analytical/statistical problem solving tools.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and balance priorities.
  • Broad business knowledge and ability to link customer needs with business processes.
  • Strong coaching, facilitation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and platform skills.
  • An understanding of and proficiency in Change Management.
