Medtronic are looking for a Market Access & Strategic Partnership Lead, CEE who will:

  • Develop an effective HC ecosystem and reimbursement environment for Medtronic to conduct its business in CEE markets.
  • Co-ordinate activities related to EU and other external Funding Institutions (World Bank) with relevant stakeholders in the countries and in Brussels.
  • Develop, execute and update as appropriate the MA strategy in the region that will enable to raise awareness and strengthen confidence in Medtronic as a vendor of high-tech cost-effective medical equipment, therapies and solutions.
  • Develop the strategy and co-ordinate activities around PPPs and other formats of strategic partnerships (i.e. Top Down Deals) with public and private stakeholders in the CEE HC arena.
  • Further develop networks with HAs, Governmental bodies and all relevant stakeholders
  • Develop the HTA, VBHC and VBP strategies in CEE, both on a therapy as well as policy level and co-ordinate execution.
  • Develop and further enhance local Associations of Medical Device companies as well as liaise with AMCHAM, US and Irish Embassies and other relevant entities in the CEE markets.
  • Develop network of vendors/lobbying experts that will enable the development of country strategies and execution of national programs and governmental activities.
  • Successfully lead a high class CEE MA team and co-ordinate with all key internal stakeholders on a CEMA, EMEA and Corporate level.

A Day in the Life

Main Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands strategies of commercial and country teams and the importance of MA & Strategic Partnerships activities for business success.
  • Maintains/establishes a high-level professional network with key policy makers, top Healthcare providers, parastatals, Health Economic organizations and other relevant decision-making representatives to anticipate and influence policy trends and thereby create a stable and positive environment for Medtronic business in the region.
  • Ensures that the Company plays a strong and leading role in National Associations in the region and all advocacy Fora and informs regional public relations decisions and activities, as applicable.
  • Conducts regular and ongoing analysis of the shifting socio-economic, political environment in the region in order to provide management with timely reports and information on potential opportunities and threats as relates to the Company’s short and long-term business activities. 
  • Proactively engages in a dialogue with key stakeholders to seek reasonable solutions to the important issues that affect Medtronic products and operations, being prepared to mount, when necessary, vigorous strategies to preserve Medtronic most fundamental business interests. 
  • Oversee advocacy activities directed at the government, legislative and regulatory bodies, particularly in the areas of reimbursement, partnerships and procurement in order to create an optimal business environment. 
  • Initiates, organizes and participates at high-level events to support Government Affairs and Reimbursement activities.
  • Positions and represents Medtronic and its businesses in the best possible way in relevant Health Care Bodies on a regional and European level.
  • Works closely with the CEMA and EMEA Reimbursement and Government Affairs Councils to harmonize processes and share best practices.

Main Job Qualifications / Requirements:

•    High ethical standards
•    10 + years of work experience in the Health Care Industry and other relevant areas.
•    Successful multiyear MA experience within a multinational company with strong reputation in CEE and/or served in the public sector on health care policy.
•    Successful multiyear experience with Politicians, Economic organizations, and Health Care providers.
•    Ability to work effectively and deliver outstanding results in a complex cross-functional environment.
•    Out of the box thinking, excellent ability to develop networks with internal and external stakeholders.
•    Excellent internal and external communication skills and a representative appearance.
•    University Diploma, preferable in Economics or a health care field. A PhD and/or M.B.A. degree would be an asset in this position.
•    Fluent Business English (both written and oral); any Eastern European Language is an asset.
•    Ability to travel extensively within the region and EMEA HQs.
•    Proven track record on developing initiatives with national or regional authorities, a good established network with government institutions and ability to connect with international organizations like World Bank, EU etc.


•    Successful implementation of the MA strategy in CEE.
•    On the effectiveness and quality of the MA activities, its results and the reputation of Medtronic with all relevant bodies in the Health Care arena.
