The Medical Affairs Strategy Specialist supports Medical Affairs (MA) strategy planning and execution by working closely with MA multi-disciplinary stakeholders to support the development of comprehensive and multi-disciplinary strategic plans, processes to operationalize strategy, key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance, and stakeholder communication. The Specialist will be responsible for managing key strategy workstreams in support of the MA enterprise.  The role is focused on ensuring alignment to business objectives, prioritization, VOC & data driven decision making, and resource justification.  This individual will work collaboratively with cross-functional MA team members to execute strategic projects including stakeholder analysis, KPI development, project management, and deployment of stakeholder communication, as well as, work closely with the Business Analyst to leverage data analytics to drive decision making and develop dashboards.  The Specialist will drive consistent use of strategic tools and resources and drive strategic best practice to provide optimal support to the MA organization.


A Day in the Life


Performs independently and is accountable for the following tasks:

  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects, deliverables, and objectives.
  • Collaborate with core and extended team to ensure high quality planning and execution of strategy workstreams.
  • Consistently apply strategy development process, guidelines, tools / templates, and best practices.
  • Seek and analyze information from all cross-functional sources to understand the project scope and what activities need to be accomplished (including who, how, duration and effort).
  • Content management of shared strategic documents, tools, and resources.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analyst and key stakeholders to develop KPIs, assess ROI, gather quarter performance metrics for strategic workstreams.
  • Manage MA branding, messaging, quarterly MA dashboard and annual report publication.
  • Manage MA short term and enduring strategic and optimization programs and facilitate transfer to execution.


Must Have (Minimum Requirements):
  • Bachelors degree required and a minimum of 4 years of project management experience, or advanced degree and 2+ years of project management experience

Nice to Have
  • Experience utilizing strategic analysis and planning tools & resources
  • Proficient in project management software and PowerPoint 
  • Website development experience
  • Business operations or business strategy experience
  • Medical device or regulated industry experience
  • Perform work without appreciable direction
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk assessment and change management
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Proven experience in resource and expectations management in a matrix organization
  • Results oriented
  • Ability to drive to completion in adherence to aggressive project schedules
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening) with all levels of the organization
  • Strong influence management skills
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Ability to facilitate team meetings, create and deliver presentations, and drive meetings to action-oriented decisions
  • Ability to communicate difficult and sensitive information tactfully and confidently
  • Enthusiasm towards process improvements and change management
