Digital Surgery is a data-driven company implementing cutting-edge AI technology, computer vision, and augmented reality to the operating room (OR) and surgical training. Our goal is to deliver safer surgery around the world. The DS1 is our first OR device, allowing surgeons, OR team members, and trainees to securely access videos of their procedures shortly after surgery. The device uses advanced AI algorithms that enable automatic processing and uploading of videos. Our surgical training platform is the award-winning Touch Surgery application that provides safe and accessible training for surgeons and other health care professionals.

A Day in the Life

In this role, you will lead a growing team of Medical Science Liaisons who provide medical knowledge and support across Digital Surgery’s product streams. This position is external-facing and works with every department to support activities related to content creation, surgical process analysis, medical communications, clinical research, product management and commercial development. This role is remote-based  and you will report to the Head of Medical Affairs. 

Here's what you'll do (not all of it, just the important stuff!)

  • Day-to-day management of a growing team of 5-10 Medical Science Liaisons. 
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the medical strategy and broader company strategy to ensure team activities are coordinated and aligned within the business.
  • Work collaboratively with medical liaisons, internal annotation team and ML scientists to streamline surgical workflow and annotation processes.
  • Identify, develop and manage relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other prominent HCPs as they relate to Digital Surgery’s products. 
  • Provide medical and scientific input across cross-functional initiatives within the Digital Surgery business.
  • Support our training and education products by collaborating with Touch Surgery’s Visual FX department,  Product and Marketing Teams. 
  • Provide an oversight of our content-delivery roadmap across both education and surgical analytics roadmaps.
  • Build relationships and demonstrate the benefits of Digital Surgery’s products to thought leaders, medical groups, societies, government agencies, KOLs and health systems.
  • Document surgical processes and workflows through communication with subject matter experts, theatre visits, literature and video review. 
  • May conduct continuing education workshops, seminars, and programs for medical students, doctors in training, or practicing surgeons. 


Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a medical/scientific field is required. MSc, PhD or MD and/or equivalent work experience is preferred. 
  • Extensive managerial experience. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrative experience supporting and growing teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English), including the ability to present to groups of varying sizes (virtual and face to face). 
  • Proven track record of success in establishing and maintaining relationships with KOLs.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working in medical education.
