A Day in the Life


The Package Assembler II will have direct reporting responsibility to Production Management. This position is responsible for supporting Production Management in the running of the packaging line in a clean room environment, and also coordinating all operations activities associated with sterilization of implantable devices.


This support includes; operating and maintaining an ISO class 7 clean room, performing all clean room environmental monitoring and routine maintenance functions, understanding how product is packaged, labeled and sterilized, inspecting product packaged and labeled within the clean room, assisting in the validation of the clean room and associated packaging / labeling processes, managing the sterilization dose auditing program. Works with members of the organization as an advocate for clean room manufacturing operations; completes necessary training, and proactively supports the business through improvements and preventive actions.


Provides support in manufacturing operations and/or distribution centers including assembly, machinery, processing, packaging, and/or distribution of company products. May set up and operate automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities in machines, with higher levels recommending and/or making adjustments to methods and processes. May be involved in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or storage of products in distribution centers.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

·         Sets up, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots packaging equipment.

·         Monitors, evaluates and adjusts processes or packaging equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.

·         Operates equipment that packages materials or products by inserting them into containers or filling containers from spouts or chutes.

·         Completes the batch records and associated documentation.

·         Works in an integrated computerized manufacturing environment.

·         Tasks are performed in accordance with applicable safety guidelines, as well as appropriate processing standards.

·         Tasks are completed in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

·         May participate in program or functional team projects developing process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling.

·         Manage the clean room clothing and supplies program.

·         Learn and understand the packaging and labeling processes for all implantable devices.

·         Assist in the qualification of all packaging and labeling equipment and processes.

·         Take responsibility for and manage the flow of product through the clean room, final package / label inspection, and to and from the contract sterilization service.

·         Take responsibility for the scheduling of product to and from the contract sterilization service.

·         Manage the quarterly dose auditing program and ensure we are always in compliance.

·         Become familiar with other proprietary manufacturing processes and procedures and the flow of product through the manufacturing area.

·         Learn, understand and work with supply chain as required.

·         Support control of inventories, working with logistics team, of both finished goods and non-conforming material, by ensuring proper control and identification.

·         Assist in the implementation of manufacturing process efficiency improvements and document such through appropriate justifications and / or validations.

·         Assist in the implementation and resolution of corrective actions from audit findings, corrective actions and non-conformance reports as needed.

·         Support quality and organizational initiatives as it relates to the organization or to individual’s goals and objectives.

·         Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner and notify management of any safety concerns / improvements that may be required.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience
  • US/PR:  Requires a high school degree/GED or equivalent and minimum of 2 years of experience
Nice to Have
  • Experience operating and maintaining an ISO class 7 clean room.
  • Knowledge of clean room environmental monitoring and routine maintenance functions.
  • Knowledge of how product is packaged, labeled and sterilized.
  • Knowledge of inspecting product packaging and labeling within the clean room.
  • Validation of the clean room and associated packaging/labeling process.
  • Sterilization dose auditing program.
