The pan-Medtronic Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a pan-Medtronic account plan in targeted pan-Medtronic strategic accounts in collaboration with  the business. This plan needs to deliver significant customer value, accelerate profitable revenue growth for Medtronic, improve our account customer experience (NPS & Customer Care and Supply Chain KPIs), while balancing our cost to serve and improving resource allocation & account P&L/ cash flow. 

The SAM will develop and maintain the overall Medtronic business relationship at the Senior/C-Suite level with these accounts, identifying and ensuring execution on co-developed and/or agreed upon projects and solutions, working in strong collaboration with the account and internal MDT stakeholders. 

Further, the SAM is responsible for ensuring awareness and alignment of account specific revenue goals, investments, and cross-business selling opportunities across Medtronic Groups. 

The Ireland SAM will also be responsible for leading and facilitating activities at Health board level, support the strategy around Private Health and also help to deliver the Ireland regional strategy in line with our UK/Ireland Strategy

A Day in the Life
  • Accountable for the P&L for the targeted pan-MDT strategic account(s) and for the achievement of account KPI’s, AOP planning & execution. 
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining Senior/C-Suite level strategic partnerships and working with them to identify and qualify new business opportunities. In addition, build an ethical and productive web of business relationships with other key stakeholders i.e. commercial/clinical decision makers (procurement, hospital managers etc.). 
  • Develop appropriate Pan-MDT account plan and value proposition for each account, leveraging the broad spectrum of business solutions, products and therapies of Medtronic. 
  • Create and lead account teams both within Medtronic and in the customer’s organization that partner to discover and execute on the long-term strategic goals of the account. 
  • Maintain accurate and up to date account plans in SFDC, prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders and conduct quarterly business reviews internally and externally. 
Must Haves
  • Ideally a Business, Science or Medical/Clinical related University Degree or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare environment, in particular understanding of the national / local health care system
  • Extensive experienced of successful sales or consulting experience
  • Strong Business skills and Strategic thinking ability
  • Proven Negotiation skills
  • Strong financial skills including P&L management, business planning, ability to analyse & interpret financial statements
  • Achieves and drives accountability, and instils operational excellence
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial business mindset
Nice to Haves
  • MBA or other higher qualification
  • Knowledge of the decision-making and buying processes within hospitals
  • Knowledge of general market innovation trends and dynamics
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred (medical device, pharmaceuticals or healthcare administration).
  • Strategic account management experience is a strong plus
  • Experience working in a matrix organization
  • Knowledge of at least 1 Medtronic business 
  • Project management skills
