Responsible for the daily operation, preventive maintenance, and repairs including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, life safety, and fire protection systems to ensure proper facility operations.  This Maintenance Mechanic position is a 3rd shift position, the individual will maintain and operate equipment that supports a variety of operations – labs, clean rooms, office space, plant equipment, and data centers at several sites.  The position requires the individual to work independently and make sound decisions that preserve facility operation and minimizes risk.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist in the operation of central plant equipment/systems (chillers, boilers, cooling towers, water treatment systems, air compressors, air handlers, pumps, etc).
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC issues and/or identify short term risk mitigation
  • Respond to emergency calls for system and equipment failure
  • Will work 3rd shift
  • Properly document preventive and corrective work activity on a daily basis utilizing the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Prioritize competing demands, communicate with lead mechanics & Supervisor for priority assistance/direction.
  • Utilize Building Automation System for proper equipment operation.
  • Adhere to operational policies and procedures, meet all safety requirements.
  • Complete all preventive and corrective maintenance based on due/scheduled dates.
  • Assist with sub-contracted maintenance activity, monitor sub-contracted work for completion and accuracy.
  • Perform routine lubrication, inspection, adjustments, cleaning, and replacement of consumable materials.
  • Communicate timely and effectively with all levels on facility issues, work status, emergencies, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as requested to ensure the continued effective and efficient operation of facility systems.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience 
Nice to Have
  • Special State of MN Boiler license or ability to obtain in 30 days
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Associate Degree or higher
  • EPA refrigeration "universal certification"
  • Boiler license 2-C or greater
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints, shop drawings, and schematics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
