The Principal Technical Architect Asia Pacific (APAC) role is responsible for creating architecture that is flexible, cost-effective, efficient, and scalable across APAC. The technical architect leads and/or contributes to solution design, strategy execution and assets across the region.  This role works across subject matter experts in each geography and partners with Enterprise Architects, Business Solution Architects, Data Architects, Technologists and external service providers to ensure technologies align with stated architecture strategies and Medtronic’s standards and delivery capabilities.  This role also mentors other Medtronic employees to develop architecture and structure strategic planning and subject matter expertise. 


 


Key deliverables include:


                      Technology vendor assessments


                      Technology roadmaps and standards maintenance


                      Technology architecture standards, patterns & reference models


                      Project-level Architecture Definition Documents (technical components)


                      Maintaining Technology inventory and mapping


                      Input to business capability models, assessments, roadmaps


                      Input to enterprise solution strategy assessments across capability & technology areas


 


The Technical Architect APAC is a key leader in the identification of risks & opportunities with current technical landscape, identifying opportunities to leverage global standards in the region and researching emerging technologies while creating technology and/or platform strategies.  This role is a key contributor in the Global Technical Architecture community of practice and remains connected with the global team.


 


This role reports to the Regional APAC Enterprise Architecture leader and serves as the primary delivery team member to provide architecture guidance and decisions regarding the viability of components, design and their operationalization across the APAC landscape.  This architect is a primary presenter in the APAC Regional Architecture Review Board (ARB) who also ensures that APAC’s implementations conform with the ARB’s decisions.

  • Executes efforts by identifying stakeholders and organizing work across scoped functions, departments and regions, achieving the expected outcomes in line with agreed expectations.
  • Listens to diverse viewpoints and drives a thoughtful discussion across a diverse audience, incorporating unspoken concerns and assumptions to facilitate group decision making.
  • Negotiates in a constructive and collaborative manner to build rapport and trust, leveraging effective techniques to establish common ground.
  • Develops effective relationships, understanding stakeholder requirements and provides appropriate collaboration and visibility.
  • Proactively engages with Medtronic business and Global IT partners to identify and define opportunities where the application of information technology can advance the strategic goals and objectives.
  • Adapts communications to the needs and understanding of the audience. Anticipates logical questions while also responding easily to spontaneous questions.
  • Contributes to the creation and continual improvement of the reference library.
  • Authors technical documentation which appropriately applies the reference library of guidelines, standards, and patterns to depict complex topics and technical plans.
  • Collects, interprets and distills data from internal and external sources to make relevant connections to enterprise needs, creating meaningful recommendations which impact organizational initiatives.
  • Drives business outcomes through a fundamental understanding of the healthcare industry, business operational requirements, emerging trends and company strategies across their supported domains.

ROLE LOCATION: Bangalore, India.


 


EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:


  • Bachelor’s degree


 


YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:


  • 10+ years of IT experience with a Bachelor’s degree

  • 8+ years of IT experience with a Master’s degree


 


SPECIALIZED SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE: 


  • 5+ years working with data integration, exchange, and/or warehousing solutions and experience with Enterprise-class data modeling methodologies and tools

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical analyst

  • 3+ years of experience supporting solution evaluation and selection processes and related governance

  • 3+ years of experience aligned to a relevant architecture discipline (integrations, data, services, infrastructure)

  • 2+ years of experience and strong knowledge of Enterprise-class architecture concepts, definition, and creation

     


  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or business related discipline


  • High degree of ‘learning agility’ with the ability to readily consume and apply new information and concepts with developed analytical problem solving skills
  • 3+ years of experience working with large enterprise systems & solutions
  • Knowledge in technical modeling, design, and concept generation
  • Awareness of architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF or Zachman, and other service and control frameworks, such as ITIL or COBIT


  • Strong technical acumen, decision making, and influence skills across all levels of an organization

  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills


  • Strong communication skills, including with employees, clients, senior management and vendors


  • Strong results orientation (driving to deadlines, financial targets, project goals, etc.)

  • Ability to work collaboratively and partner with employees, leaders, clients, and vendors

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a global, virtual organization

  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to translate technical information into business terms (e.g., ability to explain complex technical solutions and architecture strategies to non-technical resources)

  • Technology depth and credibility with technical staff


  • Work experience in the Medical Device Industry, or other regulated industry
  • Ability to mentor and develop technical resources in architecture development
