As the Principal Business Process Project Management Specialist will successfully organize and lead cross-functional project teams on high visibility project initiatives. 

The Minimally Invasive Therapies Group strives to enable earlier diagnosis, better treatment, faster complication-free recovery, and enhanced patient outcomes through less invasive surgical solutions.  SURGICAL INNOVATIONS sets the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.

A Day in the Life

You will be part of the MITG Ops team providing support to all MITG manufacturing facilities for project engineering, project management of product transfers, and other large-scale operations projects.

You will:

  • Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems using computer and logic-based methods. 
  • Develop strategic operations project plans with thorough financial impact analysis and execute plans to schedule and budget. 
  • Work with cross-functional, global teams using project management tools such as keeping and monitoring up-to-date Microsoft Project Gantt charts, tracking financials of project, holding successful meetings and distributing timely minutes to drive the timeline of critical strategic projects. 
  • Monitor sub-work streams and transfer projects to other facilities or acquisitions. 
  • Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product transfers on expenditures for management review, action, and control. 
  • Provide analysis for special projects, such as plant and product rationalizations and business development and licensing activities. 
  • Present project feasibility and execution status, track financial spending, and prepare management summary reports on project status and activities.
  • Lead MITG-wide Enterprise type projects (UDI, Rebranding, etc.)
  • Lead major restructuring project (plant closures/complex product transfers)
  • Lead Greenfield projects
  • Collaborative leadership in support of strategic Sourcing/Contract manufacturing initiatives
  • Lead project team activities to reduce operations related costs

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have
  • BA/BS Science, Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration plus relevant experience which includes 5+ years’ experience in a project management position of which 3+ years includes experience in the manufacturing product transfer process highly desirable.  
  • Experience in engineering analysis including capacity analysis, manpower and resource planning, product costing, cost savings, risk assessments, and project payback evaluation; Microsoft Office (Project, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Six Sigma tools, and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience in business case development for strategies that involve manufacturing & operations initiatives including product transfers, capacity expansions, manufacturing site closures and consolidations or business acquisitions
  • Experience in analysis that define manufacturing/operations project timelines, costs and savings as related to scope of specific initiates
  • Intimate working knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting methodologies (cost of production - labor/material/overhead) and GAAP principles 
  • Experience using financial tools (pro-forma, NPV, etc.) to generate payback metrics to rationalize and influence investment decisions 
  • Advanced MS Excel skills to model “Monte Carlo” type sensitivity analysis around multi-variable project scenarios to manage risk
  • BD&L experience as Operations representative on deal teams for due diligence and/or acquisition integrations to assess target company capabilities and risks.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong Computer skills; proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20%
