The Cardiac and Vascular Group brings all of our cardiac and vascular businesses together into one cross-functional, collaborative operating unit to employ the full breadth of our talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of customers and patients across the globe.

This is a Category Manager position in the CVG Supply Management Acquisitions function supporting all of CVG. This position supports the EPIX acquisition (based in Sunnyvale, CA) in all aspects of category management including but not limited to supplier relationship management, category strategies, contract negotiation and management.  A key part of this role is to bridge the role of category management from the Acquisitions team to the CVG category management function. This entails developing processes, reports and communications to ensure alignment. This position involves working closely with several other functions, including Manufacturing, Released Product Design Engineering, Supplier Quality, Reliability and Regulatory.
A Day in the Life:
• Responsible for supplier relationship management with suppliers 
• Responsible for negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers (e.g., supply, quality and service agreements).
• Responsible for category strategy development and execution partnering with cross functional team.
• Responsible for working with team to develop and manage a cost down pipeline for year over year cost savings.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Provides project management and sourcing expertise to cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity teams.
  • Facilitates these teams in the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize Medtronic's position in terms of quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost.
  • Mitigates risk, leverages technology and purchase power, improves processes and systems, and reduces overall cost of ownership and acquisition.
  • Negotiates, establishes and monitors supplier agreements.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Nice to Have: 
MBA or MS Degree
Experience leading and managing projects independently
Ability to multi-task and be organized
Knowledge of materials (polymers, metals) is a plus
Experience working in regulated industry like medical devices is preferred
Proven problem-solving skills; knowledge of DMAIC is preferred
Excellent leadership skills to lead and own issues all the way to resolution
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
