JOB DUTIES:
Principal Financial Analyst supports the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) business within Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) organization within Medtronic. Works strategically with the Sales, Marketing, R&D and functional business groups to prepare the AOP, quarterly forecast revisions, and provide other financial analysis support. Provides analytical support and financial acumen to various levels of leadership that will include variance analysis and performance commentary, forecasting and strategic planning. Provides various financial modeling for new product development and other strategic initiatives including global expansion, business development and licensing and value-based healthcare i.e. risk share models.  Works to create long-term financial models using cash flow projections, NPV (net present value), IRR (internal rate of return) and ROI (return on investment) for new products and business initiatives.  Applies incremental vs. gross revenue and expenses concepts in business planning/decision making, project prioritization or portfolio management.  Works for a global company including Emerging Markets in a financial role and leverages knowledge of markets to produce market models which include market growth, market share, and price assumptions. Coordination of capital and expense AOP and forecast process for all requirements related to the business unit.  Applies GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) in financial reporting, planning, and analysis including managing the month-end close.  Works with enterprise reporting systems to include (SAP and Hyperion). Utilizes skills for the development of advanced spreadsheets, database, statistical, decision analysis and presentation tools specifically Excel and PowerPoint.  Prepares written reports and develops and delivers oral presentations

REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a Masters’ degree in Finance or MBA and five (5) years’ experience as a Financial Analyst in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry and five (5) years’ post-bachelor’s progressive experience in all of the following: Financial modeling for new product development and strategic initiatives including global expansion, business development and licensing and value-based healthcare (risk share models); Creating long-term financial models using cash flow projections, NPV (net present value), IRR (internal rate of return) and ROI (return on investment); Applying incremental vs. gross revenue and expenses concepts in business planning & decision making, project prioritization or portfolio management; Working for a global company including emerging markets in a financial role; Coordination of capital and expense AOP and forecast process for all requirements related to the business unit; Applying GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) in financial reporting, planning, and analysis including managing the month-end close; Enterprise reporting systems to include SAP and Hyperion; Preparing written reports and developing and delivering oral presentations.
