A Day in the Life

  • This position will be working with multiple platforms used in Canada, the Americas, and Global IT, including Digital Commercial Solutions, Digital Education, and other strategic marketing technology platforms as determined to transform the Canada business.  This position is at the intersection of marketing, sales, education, business intelligence, and technology.
  • The Principal Business Systems Analyst will lead in the creation of the definition and design of commercial IT strategy for Medtronic customers, employees, and the general public aligned specifically to Canada and the America's business.  The individual will have the opportunity to create real value by designing, implementing, and operationalizing solutions.
  • This position involves analyzing a variety of business and technical challenges across the commercial business tech stack, including the areas of marketing, sales, sales education, outcomes management; customer segmentation; branding and awareness; CRM utilization and implementation; marketing analytics; and voice of the customer.
  • The position will initiate, recommend, design, improve, and/or build new information technology systems that enable the business to make data-driven decisions to drive positive outcomes.  This role will provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures, which are cost-effective and meet user requirements, as well as acting in a consultative role to internal stakeholders. Accountable for various project life cycle phases, with emphasis on translating user requirements into functional specifications. Responsible for understanding all IT and Medtronic technology best practices.
  • Stakeholder engagement includes multiple teams across Global IT, Americas IT, and Canada commercial teams, marketing services, and customer operations, and compliance.  Engagement will be across a wide range of levels in the organization.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Consults with business stakeholders to understand and evaluate current business processes and identify complex business problems and needs turning those needs into system requirements.
  • Provides technical expertise for system functional specifications and deploys new and current systems, processes, and procedures in a cost-effective manner.
  • May configure system settings and options; plan and execute unit, system, and integration testing to meet business requirements.
  • May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.
  • Responsible for Stakeholder Management with the Canadian business.
  • Works with the Sales Enablement Program Manager to manage various sales enablement projects and coordinate sales enablement activities that drive productivity.
  • Facilitates challenging meetings & discussions with cross-functional representatives including marketing, sales, customer experience professionals.
  • Serves as the Commercial business system design liaison for functional enhancements.
  • Manages the expectations of the Canada Stakeholders (i.e. balances needs and wants and educates as appropriate).
  • Outstanding facilitation skills and ability to take a large audience on a journey while presenting.
  • Facilitate interviews to gather requirements, document the current process, and design the future state.
  • Translate and document user requirement(s) into Functional Specifications or ‘How it can be done' in tools being used.
  • Create test plans and validation plans.
  • Design, propose, and document Enterprise Change Requests (ECR’s).
  • Defines, documents and coordinates ECR testing requirements.
  • Coaches IT teams on the execution of IT design enhancements and data interfaces.
  • Advises business team members on business process options.
  • Analyzes issues and presents them in easy-to-read process/data flows.
  • Improves existing IT processes.
  • Documents and trains others on IT solutions and data designs.
  • Work with team members across process areas.
Must-Have: Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required or a Master's degree is acceptable with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced with implementing technologies that span marketing, sales, operations, and analytics.
  • Relevant experience in the Medical Device, Life Sciences, or other regulated industries.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or business-related discipline.
  • Experienced with marketing automation software, with a preference for candidates having experience using Eloqua, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or other similar systems.
  • Experienced with recommending solutions for content management systems (CMS) configuration and integrations.
  • Sales, Marketing, CRM, Mobile computing, or SalesForce Automation-related experience or past projects.
  • Experienced with Digital Education or Learning Management System software.
  • Experience doing data analysis on commercial data from multiple sources.
  • Experience with transactional and data-driven enterprise IT applications.
  • Goal-oriented, task-driven decision-making with a strong sense of accountability. Focused on improving productivity, profitability, and business processes, delivering solutions on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical topics to business management and users.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity.
  • Solid understanding of system design and development.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Self-motivated problem solver.
  • Strong business acumen and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ambitious with a strong work ethic and intense will to win.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, decisiveness, and independent judgment on business and training matters.
  • Excellent time management and focus on productivity.
Nice to Have
  • 4+ years experience as a Business Analyst and/or systems consultant.
  • Salesforce Certifications.
  • Prior architecture experience.
  • SFDC development experience is highly preferred.
  • Previous integration experience.
  • Sound understanding of the Salesforce platform including its architecture, sharing and data model, and product suite including Sales & Service Cloud.
  • Experience with designing, configuring, and executing in a highly collaborative, agile, and remote environment.
