A Day in the Life

One of Medtronic’s ambitions in the Commercial area is to provide a tailormade experience for all patient and customer journeys. This includes an “Omnichannel” experience, including eCommerce platforms for B2B as well as B2C, and delivering a consistent experience across the many channels a patient and customer use.

The Omnichannel experience extends to products in other areas like Healthcare Professional training, sales, marketing, and customer insights & analytics. All these information and technology products are captured in one IT department called Commercial Overlays. This department is responsible for co-creating products with stakeholders, through providing guidance and input to shape the Medtronic strategies, and advising on the most suitable solution for delivering a specific requirement.

After shaping the strategies and guiding the direction, the initiatives to deliver are implemented by collaborating with other teams to develop and deploy the solutions.


Medtronic’s B2C platform (eShop) is a next generation Digital Commerce platform aimed at diabetes patients and enabled by Salesforce.com. The eShop is part of the Omnichannel Remote & Customer Experience Team and offers a multitude of capabilities: online ordering, order tracking, product training, patient 360, overview of all patient interactions with Medtronic, etc. The platform can be personalized to meet the individual customers’ needs and is a critical capability that we seek to differentiate us from our competitors. 


Within this team we are looking for a Principal IT Business Systems Analyst, who can play a critical role in shaping the landscape and direction in this area. Part of your role will be determining the most optimal architecture, delivering reusable capabilities and integrations, leading change initiatives, coordinating software development, coordinating the integration activities and the testing efforts across the entire diabetes landscape.


The Principal IT Business Systems Analyst will be:

  • The IT Process Expert of the diabetes business processes and the information technologies to deliver these processes within EMEA
  • A sparring partner for business owners on outcomes and potential IT enablers for diabetes processes and personas
  • An integrations specialist within the diabetes landscape and is the linking pin in managing all interactions between systems and capabilities
  • Working with the architecture community to shape and deliver the B2C landscape
  • Coordinator of initiative developments (Requirements Gathering, writing Functional Specifications, supporting developers, coordinate testing, support business during Hypercare)


•                Align/ collaborate with business stakeholders, cocreating the most optimal IT solutions for requirements within the Diabetes area within EMEA

•                Rollout the diabetes eShop in new countries within EMEA, driving adoption, usability, and user experience

•                Draft and review architecture related items with Core Platform architects

•                Collaborate with other platforms teams in the diabetes area to provide guidance on best integration options

•                Keep up to date with trends in diabetes market

•                Collaborate with Business System Analysts on functional designs

•                Lead, coach, and mentor Business Systems Analysts on the diabetes processes enabled by IT solutions

•                Provide input on estimates for new demand

•                Collaborate with QA teams to support activities on Functional testing, Integration testing, and User Acceptance Testing

•                Exhibit self-motivation, enthusiasm, and positive attitude while performing as a team player across the region and global teams.  

Must Haves

•                Bachelor’s degree



•                7+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant experience with an advanced degree

•                Consultancy experience (process mapping, requirements gathering, blueprinting)

•                Diabetes Business Process knowledge

•                Salesforce.com experience (eCommerce Suite)

•                Mulesoft API experience (Functional)

•                Webmethods Experience (Functional)

•                SAP Experience (Functional) – integrations within OTC processes

•                Good understanding agile project management methodology

•                Team player comfortable to work in an international and culturally diverse team

•                Proven communication skills

•                Strong analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills


Nice to Haves

•                Architecture experience

•                Integration experience

•                SFDC development experience

•                Hybris design and development experience

•                Understanding of CRM, ERP systems and supply chain processes is preferred

•                Previous working experiences within Life Sciences environment and knowledge of Digital commerce

•                Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a high-energy and fast-paced environment
