As a member of Medtronic Diabetes - Continuous Glucose Monitoring Sensor R&D team, this Principal Scientist, (Ph.D. level researcher) will assist with the ideation, design, and development of diabetes management products for Medtronic’s future generation of sensors. A successful candidate will be able to understand the technical landscape of biosensors, formulate new designs and process, perform/oversee experiments, and review in-vitro and in-vivo results related to these efforts.

A Day in the Life
• Maintain current awareness of literature and emerging approaches and methods in diabetes therapy.
•  Responsible for the initiation, design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects.
• Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.
• Plans and executes laboratory research.
• Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
• Contribute to planning and execution of collaborative projects with leading academic and commercial research groups. 
• Coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
• Participate in development of patent applications.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME
Bachelors degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have
• Ph.D. degree in any of the following disciplines; biology, chemistry, or biochemistry/ medical sciences, or biomedical engineering. 
• At least 5+  years post Ph.D. experience in industry and/or academia in the field of biosensors, biomaterials, engineering, or  related areas. Experience applying quantitative approaches to solve biological problems in university/ hospital/ industry that have medical device, pharma or biotech research environments.
• Breadth of theoretical and practical knowledge of biosensor technology fundamentals; experience in the simulation and evaluation of physiological signals using advanced techniques including chemistry, electrochemistry, spectroscopy, or mechanical methods.
• Prior professional experience working in a cleanroom for laboratory experimentation and manufacturing. 
• Polymer material fundamentals and coating technology experience.
• Strong scientific track-record demonstrating well organized design and execution of studies.
