The Senior Consultant, Provider Solutions will play a pivotal role in the healthcare solutions consulting practice delivering engagements with hospitals, surgeon practices, and ASCs within the bariatric health space.  

The Senior Consultant is responsible for leading, planning, and executing on contracts which consist of statement of work deliverables and implementation plans in order to support the US Region strategic imperatives.  Key focus areas include: market and demographics assessment, competitive analysis, financial/proforma analysis, marketing plan creation, staffing and FTE analysis, providing staff education/training, and improving patient pathway to care (process flow development/optimization).

The Senior Consultant will also participate in other Metabolic Health Initiatives with a focus on increasing access to care/market development projects such as digital campaigns, symposium series, and Congress activities that support US Specialty Marketing. 

The Senior Consultant reports to the Director, Provider Solutions.  Internally this role will interact primarily with US Specialty Marketing, US/Global Product Marketing, US Commercial Sales, Marketing Operations, Marketing Communications, Global Disease State business units, Medical Affairs, Professional Affairs and Clinical Education (PACE), and Reimbursement and Policy Development, and key thought leaders internally and externally.  

Position will be remote.  Preferred locations include metropolitan areas in CO, TX, GA, and AZ.  Position will be responsible for traveling 25-50%.


A Day in the Life

Practice Development/Optimization of Patient Care Pathway (100% of time)

  • Serves as an expert on service-line consulting in the Obesity and Metabolic Health and other disease states as necessary, while implementing/delivering engagements for customers, comprising new program development builds and existing program optimization projects at hospitals, surgeon practices, and ambulatory surgery centers.
  • Provides customers with innovative strategies, solutions and models that result in the development and optimization of clinical programs (drives engagements which lead to +profitability, volume growth, customer service, and surgical outcomes) which feed into meeting US Region strategies and goals.
  • Understands the obesity and type 2 diabetes epidemics as major population health issues, and designs sophisticated approaches to program design, administration, and follow up care processes as part of customer engagements.
  • Responsible for a multitude of business strategy and clinical projects, ensuring that they are executed according to contract and plan, while also coordinating internal procedures such as work summaries, billing and invoicing.
  • Expert in developing professional deliverables that are clear and meaningful for customers and keeping all consulting content current. Able to create sophisticated data-tracking workbooks and methodologies for customers to utilize as part of consulting platform offerings. 
  • Delivers communication excellence and is able to easily navigate hospital organizational structure and operations, collaborating with all levels of leadership and staffing at the patient level in order to gain buy-in and secure change management around consulting project initiatives.  
  • Responsible for teaching/educating hospital administrative leaders how to develop, operate, and grow clinical programs.  Responsible for teaching/educating hospital and clinic staff how to perform their roles in clinical programs as part of the growth plan for clinical service-lines.  May assist engagements with hiring roles for positions.
  • Develops key relationships with customers (trusting partnerships) that results in customer’s goal achievement, conversions, further work projects, and retainers. 
  • Participates in US Marketing initiatives designed to support execution of market development strategy for disease state focus areas.
  • Collaborates with closely with MITG business units (including Health Economics, Policy, and Reimbursement) and Commercial Sales in order to identify opportunities and bring continued value to Provider Solutions.
  • Assumes accountability to measure levers of profitability in the delivery of the Service Line Services and Solution offerings
  • Collaborates on the overall Provider Solution strategies, resource allocation and planning as well as timelines required for development.   
  • Present key customer successes and stories through various media venues such as podium presentations, WebEx, and white papers/case studies.
  • Participates in team meetings and conference calls as appropriate.  Effectively networks with commercial sales team.
  • Travel within the US 25-50%
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years hospital operations or clinic management experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR advanced degree with at least 5+ years'.

Nice to Have
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field
  • MHA in Health Administration or MBA with focus in healthcare
  • Clinical experience/RN preferred
  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years Big 4 healthcare consulting experience (Deloitte, McKinsey) in Operations Excellence or Strategy & Development.
  • Proven track record of success in planning, building, and optimizing hospital service-lines.
  • Must know how to navigate hospital structures: operations, marketing, finance, quality, inpatient and outpatient departments, registration, IT, and provider relationships.
  • Key element is leadership, influence, execution and flexibility and ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Superior communication and delivery skills with internal stakeholders (Commercial Sales, Marketing, Business Strategy) as well as external stakeholders (Surgeons, Administrators, inpatient and outpatient health system staff, etc.).
  • Independent thinker with superior organizational, time management, and execution skills in managing multiple engagements that require remote and onsite travel flexibility.
  • Proven experience in leading customer engagements that comprise: developing the strategy and deliverables to meet contract objectives.
  • Ability to work independently, guided only by very broad company policies and objectives and make final decisions on issues affecting major segments or functional activities of the organization.
  • Knowledge of the revenue mechanisms for various areas of care (inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery centers, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of managed care contracting, provider network development, and performance metrics associated with VBHC.
  • Proven Project management experience, or knowledge of change management concepts.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, concise, and timely manner.  Excellent written and oral communication skills (e-mails, memos, and PowerPoint presentations), as well as the ability to ensure content accuracy, appropriate tone, and attention to detail to ensure work is of superior quality.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and business acumen.
