Position Summary:

TWAL (Turkey, West Asia, Levant) Senior EHS Specialist role requiring excellent communication, business partnering and project management skills combined with demonstrated experience developing and implementing key Commercial and Service & Repairs EHS risk programs and conducting EHS risk assessments in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Key Accountabilities:  

Provide leadership and direction for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of an effective key EHS risk programs such as driver safety, ionizing radiation, biohazards, emergency preparedness and ergonomics that ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, Medtronic EHS Standards and aligned with EMEA and Corporate strategies, initiatives and goals
Implement a targeted health and safety and environmental risk management program that ensure the identification, assessment and control of illness and injury risks, minimizes environmental impacts and meets local regulatory requirements 
Partner with the Medtronic sub-regions, business units and functions at all levels of the organization to provide EHS technical expertise and support 
Provide EHS technical support for Facilities projects in the TWAL region
Actively participate in the CEMA (Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) EHS Community Group 
Establish and promote an EHS culture in the TWAL region
Develop and implement appropriate EHS training programs
Develop, monitor and promote environmental, health and safety performance providing quarterly corporate and local management reporting
Partner with management to integrate EHS into internal processes and business decisions 
Support, coach and mentor managers while driving accountability for EHS 
Promote and encourage an adequate investment in safety initiatives by providing sound business rationale
Establish a culture of reporting EHS adverse events including incidents, injuries, near misses and hazards through the Medtronic Enablon EHS reporting system
Ensure effective incident investigation and root cause analysis is conducted and recorded 
Participate in Commercial EHS compliance audits and some other relevant control and audits (internal or external) 
Provide support and cooperate with other sites in CEMA region where needed
Participate in and lead regional EHS projects

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Fluent English and Turkish languages (additional Arabic language – desirable)

Experience and Knowledge:

·         Sound working knowledge of EHS / Risk Management legislation and principles.

·         Working experience with two or more key EHS risk programs including driver safety, ionizing radiation, biohazards, ergonomics, emergency preparedness plans

·         Sound working knowledge of anti-discrimination legislation and principles

·         Good PC skills; systems exposure

·         Proven track record working in multi-disciplinary, cross-function teams



Education required:


Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, including: chemistry, biology, engineering, environmental, industrial hygiene and/or safety


Master Degree (preferred)


Years of experience:


4+ years of experience in EHS role including:


·        Experience in local EHS regulatory compliance in commercial office and/or hospital settings.

·    Experience in applying EHS programs including emergency preparedness, ergonomics, biological safety & infectious disease prevention, ionizing radiation, chemical safety.

·         Expert written and spoken Turkish language

·         Fluent written and spoken English language

·         Fluent written and spoken Arabic language (desirable)



Other Comments or Requirements:

·         Up to 25%  domestic and overseas travel will be required

·         Some out of hours work will be required
