The Electronics Engineer within Digital Surgery’s Innovation team is responsible for designing, testing, integrating and implementing electronic PCB solutions for custom computing devices, medical devices and surgical robotics. The Electronics Engineer is part of the team delivering novel concepts and products for the operating room and collaborates, as an electronics expert, with a cross-functional engineering team including mechanical, design, embedded/ application software, and research experts.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who wants to help us make a difference by improving the standard of surgical care around the world. 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for analog and digital circuit design and simulation, symbols and footprints creation, schematic capture, layout routing, manufacturing files creation, PCBA test and debug, and integrating designs into electromechanical systems.
  • Engineering duties include component selection, analysis and specification, circuit review, layout review and general debugging.
  • Follow a rigorous design control methodology that spans from electronics design specifications through design transfer to manufacturing.
  • Develop, test and evaluate prototypes to aid in the determination of future product release content.
  • Write detailed electronic design documentation, including specifications and verification plans.
  • Support EMI/EMC compliance tests and regulatory documentation writing. 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Expertise with proven commercial experience from simple to complex multi-layer high-speed PCBs for various analog and digital systems including board layout, design, assembly and debug experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, assembly and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience in debugging/reworking electronic assemblies, battery/power management, and associated test fixtures.
  • Experience in defining electrical architectures and interfaces driven by test and simulation analysis and results.
  • Experience in various digital bus architectures and interfaces such as I2C, USB, I2S, UART, SPI, MIPI-CSI/DSI, and LVDS signals.
  • Proven experience with EMI/EMC compliance challenges, design for reliability, and design for manufacturing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced R&D environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience in medical devices or other regulated business.
  • Experience in hardware product development with an organisation developing consumer electronics, IoT devices etc.
  • Experience with Altium Designer
  • Good soldering skills, ideally 0402, QFN and similar packages.
  • Experience with the integration of camera sensors and optics in consumer products.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP) and applicable Quality System Standards, such as ISO 13485, 14971, IEC 60601 and their relevant FDA equivalents.
