Senior IT Developer - Digital Operations Build & Release

Be a part of a dynamic Digital Operations team in Global IT Business and Customer Platforms (BCP). This position is responsible for application build and release support & troubleshooting across our Business and Customer Platforms, primarily our eCommerce platform.  Develop and maintain a practical understanding of current technologies and applications deployed and supported by the Digital Commerce team.   Also, partner with others to triage and resolve issues for the platform environments.

This role will primarily drive release management activities and associated communication across technical teams and business stakeholders for the platform
Own and drive release management of key deliverables on the eCommerce platform                                                                                
Plan, coordinate and schedule deployment and post-deployment activities, (including communicating outage(s), and scheduling communication between key decision makers

Coordination with external teams and manage dependencies during deployment
Responsible for driving across teams on backout/rollback procedures across accountable environments
Drive process for RFC creation, test summary compilations and approvals for releases (normal, urgent, emergency)
Hot fix process management and communication
Partner with core development team for compliance with branching and merging strategy
Represent platform change activities with Global IT Change Management Team

Environment management and troubleshooting for the Platform (drive automation where possible)
Partner with application development and infrastructure on application tooling setup and operations
Partner with cross teams on environment, infrastructure and application issues and changes

Must be able to drive, collaborate with peers and SMEs to provide resolution to problems of varying scope and complexity associated with builds and releases.  Act with appropriate sense of urgency, communicating and escalating appropriately to key stakeholders.  
Partner with internal and external technology resources to maintain current technologies.  Demonstrate a high-level understanding of application and software principles and technology (operating systems, network services, etc…). In areas outside of your expertise, demonstrate the ability to find internal experts and partner to collaborate toward resolution.  Facilitate meetings and drive issues towards resolution across and with technical and business stakeholders.  Make recommendations to processes and tools to continuously improve effectiveness and efficiency for Digital Operations.  

Support multiple customers across the globe and possess strong internal and external customer service and communication skills. Proficient in service-level management, common business tools/applications (e.g. MS Office) and standard hardware utilized within the organization.      
Employee will interact with, establish and maintain credibility with various internal customers within Medtronic.  Expectations are they are able to address in a professional and effective manner the issues identified by the user, have excellent follow through, including continuous communication if needed for resolving urgent matters. 
Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of supporting the organization and delivery to service levels as defined by the organizational objectives.                      
May represent the function for projects and lead on process improvement initiatives related to build and release needs of BCP stakeholders.

MUST HAVE - Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 4+ years of IT experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of IT experience with an advanced degree
• 2+ year experience developing or supporting web-based solutions
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues and identifying root causes related to application builds, releases and environments to develop a resolution

• 4+ years of experience in release management, software configuration management, and software development
• A working understanding of programming (such as Java, .Net) and scripting language (such as Python, Perl), or Microsoft C# and ASP.net with MVC design pattern
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• Code and debug environment issues, leverage troubleshooting skills
• Application development, data analysis experience at any level
• Knowledge or experience with Web Services/application deployment 
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Excellent time management across multiple priorities
• Demonstrated history of progressively increasing complexity and variety of technical roles
• Proven experience in environment management across a platform
• Track record of leading and implementing change across a platform
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, apply and support new technology
• Ability to read and understand technical design documentation
• Self-directed / self-motivated / self-starter; not easily blocked by barriers
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Background in Linux/Unix Administration and or Windows operating systems a plus
• Experience with automation/configuration management using either Jenkins, Puppet, Chef or equivalent a plus
• Some supervisory or team leadership experience a plus
