A Day in the Life

  • Maintains a deep understanding of the science behind our products.

  • Develops competitive intelligence in our product space.
  • Drives education and outreach for safe and effective use of our products.
  • Develops, implements and oversees integrated evidence-based medical affairs strategic plans for relevant Medtronic organizations.
  • Utilizes advanced subject matter expertise to provide medical input to various functions (General Management, Global Strategy & Portfolio Management, Business Development & Licensing, Research & Development, & Marketing) and organizational units to facilitate insightful decision-making and enable achievement of business objectives.
  • Ensures effective objective value propositions are developed and articulated for Medtronic technologies to stakeholders (patients, health care providers, payers, government agencies, health technology assessment organizations, public) through appropriate channels.
  • MD designation only: Licensed MD may also interpret clinical trials/research, sign off on product safety reviews, establishes and approves scientific methods for design and implementation of clinical protocols, and final reports.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years experience development and maintenance of Medical Affairs strategic plan with 5+ years of managerial experience, 
  • Or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years experience development and maintenance of Medical Affairs strategic plan with 5+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have
  • Proven understanding of the medical device or pharmaceutical arena and healthcare system requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and ethical obligations.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proven ability to establish working relationships with all levels of clinical/technical/marketing people in corporate, clinical and academic settings. Experience providing medical and scientific training to internal stakeholders. Ability to work self-directed, independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse cultures. Experience developing targeted Key Opinion Leader (KOL) networks. Demonstrated ability to design and direct scientific or business advisory boards.
  • Analytical skills and capability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific information.
  • Insight to determine sales and customer communication/education needs during product life cycle.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
