The Americas Senior Principal IT Architect is responsible for managing strategic vision across various teams ensuring IT decisions support achieve business outcomes. In the execution of these strategies the IT Architecture Advisor works with the delivery teams to realize strategies as they become tangible solutions.

The Senior Principal IT Architect works with the Americas Business Relationship Managers to define an IT strategy that aligns with region strategies and then working to with application groups across the enterprise to define ROM costs and timelines.

An Americas Senior Principal IT Architect possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. 

The Senior Principal IT Architect is the champion for a region IT strategy and their solutions. They must communicate with all areas of the company. The IT Architecture Advisor and their team will work to understand requirements, key benefits, and target customers. 

• Managing the solution definition life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
• Partner with Business Relationship Managers to understand current and future business needs/strategies
• Oversee the preparation, maintenance and then evangelize a region-driven roadmap 
• Defining solutions for short- and long-term objectives
• Options analysis to compare solution’s alignment to requirements as well as cost and time to value
• Defines, describes, diagrams, and documents the role and interaction of the high-level technological and human components that provide cost effective and innovative solutions to meet evolving business needs
• Promotes, guides, and governs good architectural practice through the application of well-defined, proven technology and human interaction patterns and through architecture mentorship
• Supports the full lifecycle management of the entire IT portfolio including the selection, appropriate usage, enhancement and replacement of information technology applications, infrastructure, and services
• Benchmark business capability assessments with broader industry and business landscape to ensure continued alignment, planning & maturity enhancements.
• Business capability definition, modeling, assessment, maintenance (e.g., value vs. maturity) & business capability roadmap.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)
• Bachelor’s degree
• 10+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)
• Previous Medtronic experience
• Experience in Supply Chain, Finance, SAP, Customer Service, Commercial IT
• Understanding of System Development Lifecycles 
• Solid background in Business Analysis including (but not limited to) use cases, swim lanes, story cards, and value streams
• Deep understanding of the full set of business architecture and solution architecture activities
• Able to perform trade off analysis on various technical approaches 
• Ability to rapidly understand business models 
• Develop and deliver concise and meaningful presentations for internal and external audiences
• Act as liaison between Business and Technology teams to support solution positioning and customer demand as part of solution delivery
• Exemplary people and communications skills coupled with the savvy and maturity needed to garner the respect of senior management and clients
• Must be a professional self-starter who goes above and beyond the expected requirements of the role
• Highly adept at building mutually beneficial relationships that result in value, benefit, and growth
• Work well under pressure and be able to prioritize to meet deadlines and quickly shift priorities as necessary
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and demonstrate keen attention to details
• Ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact and communicate ideas including responding to resistance and criticism
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
• Team player attitude is mandatory
• Positive attitude and demonstrated optimism are necessary
• Project management skills to understand project plans and aid in communication to others are beneficial.
• A diverse background spanning multiple industries
• Experience with the entire IT software development process from architecture to development to deployment
