EMEA Supply Chain & Customer Care organization takes care of the following functions & activities:  Customer Service, Transport & Trade Compliance, Service and Repair, Logistics, Planning, Inventory management, Master Data, Spinal Loaner, Packaging & Labeling, SC Quality, Business Relationship Management and Solution Management & Operational Excellence.  A team of more than 2500 professionals is working in many different sites trough out the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region. The Medtronic organization in the Netherlands exists out of 1400 enthusiastic professionals and is being positioned as Center of Excellence and fulfills the roles as European Operating Center EOC) in our supply network.

A Day in the Life
The Operational Excellence (OPEX) team within Medtronic is responsible for driving the Continuous Improvement culture within Customer Care & Supply Chain EMEA. In this position, you:

  • Empower teams to solve issues as part of their daily job (everybody every day) in order to improve value we provide to our customers
  • Promote the Medtronic Operating System (MOS), its cultural aspects to create a continuous improvement culture that gets everybody engaged and embed customer centric thinking   throughout the organization and
  • Align the organization with the strategy through Policy Deployment.

As a Master Black Belt, you are responsible for creating & driving the MOS roadmap into execution for multiple Functions & Cross functional teams within the EMEA region, in close collaboration with the OPEX community and leadership teams. You are responsible for developing, advocating and enabling the tools and methodologies to drive Medtronic process excellence. These tools may include, but are not limited to Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management, Change Acceleration Program (CAP) and other improvement techniques.


Typical activities which make the Master Black Belt job challenging: 

  • Create structure & overview in complex environment during kaizen events & A3 - DMAIC projects;
  • Leading variety of teams with big diversity & knowledge level on Lean Sigma & cultural changes with a sensitive but leading approach;
  • Leading change, collaborate & coach all levels (operators & team lead, managers & directors);
  • Providing training (problem solving, green belt & black Belt training) to multi lingual employees;
  • Ability to coach Problem Solvers, Green Belts & Black Belts;
  • Ability to & coach leaders through transformation of cultural towards continuous improvement;
  • Respect the maturity level of Continuous Improvement for the teams you work with and adjust your approach to their needs in order to allow them to learn & to take their next step in their journey.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor / Master degree in logistics or business administration, engineering or technical discipline;
  • Consistent application of project management leadership and extensive application of continuous process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent;
  • 5+ years  of experience in Supply Chain Management / Customer Service in consulting capacity;
  • 5+ years of experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring and consulting;
  • 2-4 years of proven success in a leadership role;
  • Strong and demonstrable project management skills: planning & coordinating, communicating & influencing, achieving milestones, resolving issues and managing risks;
  • Lean Six Sigma (Master) Black Belt certification;
  • Strong project leadership, ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Innovative, passionate and able to inspire people at all levels of the organization.
