A Day in the Life

As Senior Regulatory Business Transformation Analyst you will be a key enabler to harmonized processes and collaboration across groups, regions and functions is an integrated technology roadmap as well as to common tools and systems used across the global function.  
This role is responsible for (a) establishing and tracking our integrated functional technology roadmap as well as for (b) creating plans and driving the execution against this roadmap in close partnership with critical functional partners, under the guidance of the RA senior leadership. This includes leading the identification and prioritization of high-level business needs and the translation of those into requirements for multiple projects. The time is spent between strategizing and defining our integrated roadmap and delivering and overseeing the operationalization of various projects – from design to implementation.
In order to be successful in this role, you need to be passionate about regulatory affairs and the connection between business processes and workflows, and IT or systems tools. 

This role has great leadership development opportunities as it operates across the global RA Function of 1200+ employees, partners with various functions such as IT, finance, Quality or Enterprise Business Services, and has the opportunity to influence decisions and actions at all leadership levels of Medtronic.
This role will report to the leader of our RA Transformation Program and be a member of the Corporate RA team. 

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as the RA technology future state business owner and key interface to IT, our current operations teams and our process improvement teams
  • Deliver and/or manage roadmaps assigned and ensure alignment with critical stakeholders to achieve desired results; work collaboratively with and influence teams across business units, geographies and functions; continuously engage various levels across the organization through effective communications mechanisms, visualization tools and project plans
  • Be passionate about technology transformations and inform the strategy and maturation of our global regulatory information management ecosystem and global RA operations; help identify and build business cases where needed.
  • Drive the operational and project management aspects of developing and executing against a strategic technology roadmap; assesses issues and offer resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong aptitude to learn businesses processes and procedures, and IT current state capabilities and opportunities.  
  • Consult with business stakeholders, end-users and business partners to understand, identify, recommend and prioritize critical business needs and solutions; creatively and effectively use tools and techniques such as process maps, diagrams, project roadmaps, or Lean Sigma methods to document and describe the current or future state.  
  • Build a strong cross-functional operations network and governance mechanisms to be aware of, leverage and build upon existing, local efforts and expertise for effective and efficient solutioning and implementation, partnering closely with IT, Quality, Finance, Global Operations, or our own RA Operations teams.
  • Work with end-users and business partners to ensure business requirements are driven by strategic objectives and appropriately address prioritized needs; help develop specifications and enhancements that will achieve the customers and business goals; provide technical expertise and be hands-on where and when needed to accelerate projects and design or solutioning work.
  • Understand and follow industry and technology trends and opportunities

  • Have a service-oriented mindset, be a team player and apply your skills across the program or team where needed. Communicate program vision to project teams and key business stakeholders. Help ensure the team has continued business sponsorship, engagement, and commitment.
  • Work independently under limited supervision to determine and develop an approach to solutions.

  • Direct the work of other professionals and delegate where possible.
  • Support other business needs as identified. 
Must Have; Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a related field
  • At least 4 years of work experience in the role of a business analyst,  or 2 years with advanced degree
  • MBA or related graduate degree.
  • 2 years of Medical device experience.
  • 2 years of Regulatory Affairs functional experience.
  • Lean six sigma, project management or other relevant certifications
  • Experience in supporting business process improvement initiatives 
  • Strong ability to interface, influence, and build effective relationships and partnerships at all organizational levels, effectively navigating the matrix
  • Experience with meeting facilitations
  • Experience with resource, cost, and budget planning/estimation.
  • Experience in business process definition, requirements definition, solution development or in leading system implementations
  • Ability and experience analyzing complex issues and making business-level recommendations to improve, change or adapt new methods or ways of working
  • Experience leading project teams and coordinating activities to achieve a common goal, prioritization skills and facilitation skills; experience in the delivery of operational deliverables 
  • General, holistic understanding of IT Infrastructure tools, technologies, concepts and nomenclature; technical background in Excel, Visual Studio, SQL, Excel macro creation; coding and programming experience; very high proficiency and fluency in PowerPoint to concise, appealing communications and focused decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated systemic, critical, analytical, out-of-the-box thinking
  • Can-do attitude, results and solution-oriented
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and changing environments, to learn quickly and teach others
  • Entrepreneurial mindset & curiosity to build something new; be accountable with a high sense of ownership
  • Flexible and able to adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic, high-paced and changing environment.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, appropriately balancing perfection with execution speed; able to manage multiple tasks and multiple demands
  • A track record of demonstrated ability to create and execute against agreed upon plans or commitments including strategic communication planning and stakeholder engagement, information distribution, proper documentation is created, performance reporting, and administrative closure.
