Reporting to the Aortic General Manager, the Senior Strategic Program Manager is responsible for leading projects in diverse areas of the business with rigorous, fact based strategic decisions within the Aortic business, part of APV/CVG Medtronic. Success in the role will rely heavily on the ability to manage cross-functional teams and prioritize projects, synthesize complex data and information into succinct findings, derive strategic insights, and communicate findings and perspectives to all levels of the organization, including senior and executive management.


The Strategic Projects Manager must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, with excellent analytic, facilitation, and communication skills (both oral and written).  The Sr Manager will work collaboratively with team members across Medtronic, with emphasis on coordination of business unit and regional activities, to manage the development of processes, tools and outputs that support strategic decision making and execution.  The Manager will also act as an independent voice to the GM and assist in facilitating effective decision making, coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and manage the weekly GM staff meeting agenda, actions, minutes, and goals in accordance with the strategic plan. The Manager will report to the General Manager, Aortic and will be responsible for supporting presentations to the employee base, board of directors and other internal and external partners as needed. The Manager will function as a Chief of Staff the Aortic GM.

A Day in the Life:
  • Conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative analyses in operations, marketing, business development, and product development in support of strategic direction and communicate recommendations around issues; support analyses with sound data collection
  • Coordinate and lead strategic initiatives among cross-functional groups/ businesses and regional partners through strategic thought and active participation in decision analysis using internal and external data, problem formulation, meeting facilitation, data collection, and communications to senior management
  • Manage the smooth functioning of GM’s staff by coordinating the weekly agenda, actions and minutes, to help facilitate effective decision making and in alignment with the vision and strategic direction of the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop annual and quarterly goals for the team, track progress and report on performance.
  • Lead the development of content for quarterly business updates to the employee base; manage the quarterly all employee meeting activities and ensure the voice of employees are being reflected in presentations.
  • Attend global business reviews and support regional teams with qualitative and quantitative analysis for strategic decision making.

  • R&D Financial model
  • Meetings: Weekly Staff, Quarterly Offsite
  • Presentation/ ‘Pitch’ Decks for QBR/executive and all employee meetings
Must Have:
  • You will need a Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience leading and managing the execution of programs and processes in a marketing, sales or technical role
  • Requires specialized business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead multiple business or functional teams.
Nice to Have:
  • MBA or Master's Degree
  • Typically has broad practical experience across multiple professional disciplines within the organization, combining theory, past practical experience and the organization’s business practices.
  • Minimum travel requirements up to 50%
  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, management consulting and/or investment banking desirable
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Demonstrated success in people or program management
  • Experience generating creative new business ideas and strategies
  • Experience leading or managing teams and change initiatives
  • Outstanding analytical abilities, financial acumen and business judgment
  • Experience in financial modeling including the ability to perform sensitivity analyses and critically interpret the results
  • Experience with developing strategic business plans
  • Strong understanding of market research techniques and ability to draw conclusions from the data
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex strategies and data in a clear and concise manner
