Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) R&D teams develop the medical technologies that save lives and improve quality of living for millions of patients across the world. As part of the CRHF R&D team, the CRHF Data Management team leverage various software technologies to create, enhance, and maintain the CRHF Data Warehouse. The CRHF Data Management team is looking for a proactive, self-starting, strong software development engineer.

This position is a Software Engineer II role within CRHF organization, focused on Data Warehouse and ETL development.  The software engineer will work with other engineers, developers and database administration personnel in the organization to develop code to support the data management team and execute on the designs established by the Data Management architect. The software engineer works in a team setting to meet/exceed business and quality objectives. This individual will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process. This is a position that requires an individual to think independently and be decisive.

This individual will work in a software development ecosystem that include but not limited to: C#, VSTS/TFS, API, Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, NiFi, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server.

Day in Life:

• Implement the physical database environment, business and presentation layers.
• Design, estimate, implement, test, debug and document technical solutions and enhance existing components to ensure that software meets the business needs, while in compliance with applicable regulations and processes.
• Develop necessary code to support the advancement of the data warehouse
• Meet or exceed all project schedule milestones, cost and quality objectives
• Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
• Identify and drive continuous software development process improvements initiatives
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines.
• Collaborate on the design with other team members and product owners, both inside and outside of the team.


Must Have: Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical engineering or related engineering field
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have
• Experience implementing using the following technologies: C#, Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, NiFi, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with SQL Server based Data Warehouses, including SSIS
• Experience with database and schema design and translation to implementation.
• Experience working in software product development, preferably in a regulated environment. Good understanding of the software development and product development processes, from design inputs through execution of the appropriate verification and validation tests
• Experience working in an Agile team setting
• Medtronic device knowledge desirable.
 Experience with healthcare data domain
• A working knowledge of statistics
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking
• Strong leadership skills and self-driven
