The Senior Director, Business Continuity Management (BCM) provides leadership to Medtronic’s BCM Program Office to increase operational resilience throughout the supply chain, improving our ability to withstand a crisis event that could severely impact our business viability, market share, and the customers and healthcare communities we serve. The BCM Program is comprised of Business Continuity Planning, Crisis Management & Mobilization, and Emergency Response. The BCM Program Office provides the strategic and operational framework to review and, where appropriate, redesign the way the organization provides its products and services, improving its resilience to disruption or loss, increasing productivity, decreasing downtime, adding greater flexibility and agility, and supporting cost savings programs while retaining resilience through continuity options input to manufacturing, distribution, shared services strategy and inventory management. 

This role manages a BCM Program Office team of 3 direct reports, and reports to the Vice President, Risk Operations & Facilities Management, Medtronic Global Operations and Business Services.

A Day in the Life 
Developing BCM policies, standards, and requirements. 
Defining the standard BCM methodology and implementation process. 
Establishing and chairing the  BCP Steering Committee, working with other BCP Plan Owners to develop and maintain enterprise wide BCP Plan, in partnership with the global ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) function 
Driving the implementation of the global BCM Program, and providing assistance, expertise and a common framework and methodology to the Groups, Regions, and Functions to follow when assessing business continuity risk and developing their plans.
Coordinate with Information Technology Disaster Recovery leaders to define IT resilience requirements for key global processes in Order-to-Cash, Purchase-to-Pay, Close-to-Report and Hire-to-Retire value streams, in partnership with key business leaders for those process streams 
Undertake regular reviews, at least annually, of the BCM plans with the Groups, Regions, and Functions 
Assure consistency in policies and procedures, as well as alignment to the overall business strategy
Develop business continuity, recovery and resumption objectives and guidelines, and BCM coordinators annual common performance objectives
Developing and maintaining the tools and resources needed for efficient and effective BCM implementation. 
Providing ongoing education and furthering the development of BCM managers. 
Developing, leading, and determining annual key objectives for the BCM Manager Network
Serving as leader of the corporate crisis filter and management team, advisor to Executive Management and liaison to local crisis management teams during times of crisis. 
Leading workshops and tabletop exercises based on BCM standards to validate business and technical recovery plans and capabilities, build awareness amongst recovery team members and stakeholders, and identify gaps/improvement opportunities in a controlled environment
Facilitating disaster simulations to exercise the business continuity plans
Determining and managing global crisis management team structures and processes including Emergency Notification Systems and incident response, in conjunction with cross functional crisis management team members. 

Must Have: 

Bachelors Degree + 15 years of experience with 10+ years managerial experience or Advanced Degree with 13 years experience with 10+ years of managerial experience

Experience in one or more of the following functions/disciplines: Business Continuity Management, Logistics, Operations (e.g. Supply Chain, OpEx), Process Improvement, and/or Risk Management

Nice to Have:

Certified Business Continuity Professional from DRI International or other established certification program

Masters or other advanced degree preferred

Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or comparable established certification program

Track record for intelligent risk taking with critical thinking skills that enabled positive change.

Confident and assertive style, but respectful of others.  Must be team oriented and able to adjust leadership style to maximize effectiveness.
