The Sr. Program Director serves as the strategic advisor to the VP, Global Clinical Research and Analytics. The primary focus of this position is to partner with clinical leaders across the function to enable and drive the strategic imperatives of the function. The incumbent will provide operational and program management support to drive execution and ensure solutions are innovative yet efficient. This leader will also work closely with cross-functional and geographic leaders to assess, plan and implement critical initiatives, ensuring alignment to the Clinical Research function.  

The Sr. Program Director role requires a deep understanding of clinical research in order to effectively serve as a key enabling partner and driver of plans and strategies. The leader works to ensure that the organization delivers superior performance by driving alignment and collaboration. It enables the VP to focus on the most important, high-value priorities for the global function. This role proactively identifies, drives and resolves critical operational issues related to the smooth functioning of Clinical Research by ensuring that strategic and operational priorities are set and articulated, resources are secured against these priorities and organizational bottlenecks critical to execution are eliminated. 

The Sr. Program Director serves as an advisor, facilitator, influencer and liaison between the leaders within the function, key stakeholders and other leaders. This role is the primary point of contact with management for a broad range of programs, initiatives and related business processes to meet objectives and to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the function. This role monitors and communicates plans, requirements and status of ongoing initiatives, as well as performs research and analysis for special initiatives as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

Provide end-to-end support as an advisor to the VP and Clinical Research leaders including, but not limited to helping shape the functional strategy, managing a wide portfolio of projects tied to the function’s strategic imperatives, ensuring timelines and resources are deployed and ensuring effective problem solving and decision making. Help to establish clear objectives, timelines and budgets.
Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and identify linkages within the function to continuously identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
Be an advisor, facilitator and influencer across the function. Ask difficult, thought-provoking questions and render superior judgment on challenging, complex, undefined issues to inform decisions that impact the Clinical Research function under the leadership and guidance of the Vice President, Global Clinical Research and Analytics. Be an integral part of Clinical Research Council to architect and execute effective strategic plans that satisfy the functional strategy.
Drive continuous improvement and promote efficiencies, synergies and team engagement to ensure the success of key initiatives. 
Initiate, lead and be accountable for the ideation, development and execution of strategic initiatives, under the leadership of the VP. These programs could be strategic, organizational, or operational in nature.
Inform, develop and execute stakeholder management plans that accelerate change, drive alignment, foster collaboration and realize synergies across the organization. Conduct briefings with leaders regarding critical initiatives, goals and outcomes. Act as a spokesperson and orchestrate communication for multiple initiatives. Serve as a liaison across the organization.
Represent the VP and her interests on key initiatives and programs to ensure that the Clinical Research organization delivers superior performance. 
Must Have: Minimum Requirements 
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 15 years of Medical or Clinical experience with 10+ years of managerial experience, or Advanced Degree with a minimum 13 years prior Medical or Clinical experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience

Nice to Have
• Deep business clinical research acumen
• Strong ability to work and influence across levels and throughout the matrix including functions, business groups/units, and regions; leverage broad network across Medtronic groups, functions and geographies
