The purpose of the role is to develop and execute the reimbursement and health economic strategies to secure optimal reimbursement and funding for designated Coronary & Renal Denervation (CRDN) products and to support the establishment of these therapies as the “standard of care” within key markets in EMEA. This role will focus on establishing reimbursement of innovative new therapies, and especially on  renal denervation for treating uncontrolled hypertension.

The Senior Reimbursement Analyst will be a member of the EMEA reimbursement team and will work as a partner to Medtronic’s CRDN (Coronary & Renal Denervation)  Operating Unit in developing clinical and economic evidence, health economic evaluations, value propositions, and customer-facing economic tools.  This role will forge close, cross-functional working relationships with global and regional reimbursement, marketing, clinical affairs, government affairs, pricing, and other functions across the business.


A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Deliver relevant evidence and tools to meet EMEA countries’ HTA (Health Technology Assessment), reimbursement, and funding needs to expand market access of Medtronic’s coronary and renal denervation technologies.
  • Execute health economic projects including cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, cost-of-illness analyses and budget impact analyses to support market access strategies
  • Partner with country reimbursement specialists in the adaptation of economic analyses and market access tools to local settings
  • Use your specialist knowledge of health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) methodologies to optimize Health Technology Assessments (HTA), Reimbursement applications, Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRG) funding mechanisms, Value Based HealthCare (VBHC) programs including risk-sharing contracts, and Hospital- or Payer-level business cases
  • Develop product value stories and deliver regional value dossiers for effective and timely use in EMEA countries, and support the local adaptation and roll out of these tools in collaboration with local reimbursement experts, market development and government affairs.
  • Analyze and communicate clinical & economic evidence to target audiences within the region, including publication of research findings.
  • Provide therapy-specific and general reimbursement/HE education and training to key internal and external audiences within region
  • Expected travel : Up to about 20% of regular working time
Must Have: 
  • Postgraduate degree (MS, MPH, MPP, MBA, PhD or MD) in Economics, Health Economics, Life Sciences,  Health Policy or related field required
  • 2+ years market access experience for medical devices or pharmaceutical products (reimbursement, health economics, HTA and funding applications)
  • 2+ years’ experience in health economics, outcomes research or medical device technology assessment
  • Good knowledge of the application, development and review of health economic models
  • Knowledge of reimbursement systems in Europe
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work across cultures, strong project management skills,  results orientation, quality orientation

  • Ability to work comfortably and collaboratively in a complex, global, matrix organization
  • Strong interpersonal and cultural competencies
  • A track record of successful reimbursement and funding applications in the health care environment
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse non-technical audiences
  • Ideally some experience in conducting outcomes research projects and developing value propositions
  • Cardiology or hypertension knowledge
