Reporting to the Aortic General Manager, the Strategic Planning Program Director is responsible for leading projects in diverse areas of the business with rigorous, fact based strategic decisions within the Aortic sub-business, part of APV/CVG Medtronic. You will also be responsible for the development of the Aortic strategic plan, working in concert with the Aortic Senior Leadership team

Success in the role will rely heavily on the ability to manage cross-functional teams and prioritize projects, synthesize complex data and information into succinct findings, derive strategic insights, and communicate findings and perspectives to all levels of the organization, including senior and executive management.

The Strategic Planning Program Director must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, with excellent analytic, facilitation, and communication skills (both oral and written).  The Director will work collaboratively with team members across Medtronic, with emphasis on coordination of business unit and regional activities, to manage the development of processes, tools and outputs that support strategic decision making and execution.  Will also act as an independent voice to the GM and assist in facilitating effective decision making, coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and manage the weekly and quarterly GM staff meeting agenda, actions, minutes, and goals in accordance with the strategic plan. The Director will report to the General Manager, Aortic and will be responsible for supporting presentations to the employee base, board of directors and other internal and external partners as needed. The Manager will function as a Chief of Staff the Aortic GM.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
•Directs the development of company market requirements for specific product(s) or product line(s).
•Leads and coordinates product planning, product launches, product management, market development and market research activities.
•Interacts directly with product managers to identify new marketing opportunities.
•Works individually or with a team in recommending action, scheduling and planning projects, estimating cost and managing projects to completion.
•Identifies unmet customer requirements and new business opportunities and provides vision and focus to move products from idea to market place.
•Facilitates and coordinates marketing activities with geographic areas to increase teamwork and build partnerships.
•Responsibilities may also include: coordinating trade show activities, website development, developing future e-commerce strategies, and tracking of marketing campaigns to evaluate results and provide recommendations for future marketing promotions.
•Develops long-range objectives and strategic plans for corporation or major division by identifying internal and external strategic issues that could affect growth and profitability.
•Scans environment for business opportunities, maintains surveillance over market, and may perform financial analysis of acquisition candidates.
•Develops and monitors profitability, productivity, and growth targets.
•May prepare acquisition proposals, recommend financial and nonfinancial strategic objectives and alternatives, and implement and maintain strategic and operational plans.
•Plans and coordinates business reviews, resource allocations, organization structures, and financial analysis.

 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
•Bachelors degree required
•Minimum of 10 years of strategic program planning experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of strategic program planning experience in marketing, sales or technical role with 7+ years of managerial experience
•Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time
•Experience in specialized business knowledge, experience in management and leadership leading multiple business or functional teams

Nice to Have:
•MBA or Masters Degree 
•Experience in medical devices, healthcare, management consulting and/or investment banking desirable
•Experience in a Business Development and/or Strategy function
•Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
•Demonstrated success in people or program management
•Experience generating creative new business ideas and strategies
•Experience leading or managing teams and change initiatives
•Outstanding analytical abilities, financial acumen and business judgment
•Experience in financial modeling including the ability to perform sensitivity analyses and critically interpret the results
•Experience with developing strategic business plans
•Strong understanding of market research techniques and ability to draw conclusions from the data
•Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex strategies and data in a clear and concise manner
