For this role you will be expected to be located in any of the following locations:  Warsaw/Prague/Bratislava/Budapest/Bucharest/Zagreb/Belgrade/Ljubljana.

A Day in the Life

The main purpose of the role is to serve as a partner to the Central Eastern Europe Vice President, country leadership and Business Unit Management in leading the development of the regional, key country and business strategies, responsible for effective and efficiently coordination of the execution of growth initiatives and strategic plans.  Strengthen and manage PMO function in the Central Eastern European region, by developing and maintaining project management methodologies, standards and tools, including development of project management governance, PM team leadership, project tracking and monitoring processes, and project prioritization. Work in close partnership with and manage the efforts of project teams.


Key responsibilities of your role will be:

  • Take the lead in developing the regional, country and business strategic plan initiatives in collaboration with the CEE management team and effective progress monitoring of strategic initiatives, ensuring businesses and functions contribute to the development and implementation of the agreed upon strategy initiatives.
  • Create PMO Center of Excellence
  • Establish a structural and organization approach for the full life cycle of the projects – project planning, initiation, resourcing, execution, monitoring, control and completion.
  • Ensure that PMO meets performance targets, that are aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives and that projects adhere to the best practices.
  • Serve as trusted strategic advisor, working alongside with business leaders to help determine which project and initiatives should be undertaken – why, when and how.
  • Ensure alignment of strategic objectives as defined in the strategic plan with PMO programs.
  • Drive adoption and continuous use of suitable CRM/SFE solutions (salesforce.com, tender tracking, other) enabling insightful analytics, fact-driven decision making, effective sales execution and optimal sales effectiveness.
  • Ensure adoption, implementation and ownership of market development across all businesses and countries within CEE with focus on bringing selected therapies to Standard of Care through appropriate action plans using the PAA Tools and Processes.
  • Assess project requirements and secure necessary personnel and information resources for project team.
  • Perform strategic and market analysis for proposed transactions, including assessment of Medtronic strategic objectives and proposed transaction relationship/fit with those objectives.
  • Assure full understanding of the financial impact of proposed activities in relationship to current strategic plans and the annual operating plan.
  • Identify and assess opportunities and risks of proposed transactions, including financial, operational, and integration synergies and issues.
  • Present proposed transactions to appropriate decision making management groups.
  • Partner with business unit personnel to identify strategic needs and potential target companies/technologies.
  • Monitor markets, industries and organizations of potential strategic interest.
  • Develop broad knowledge of medical technology industry and Medtronic businesses to further develop leadership potential.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Must Haves and Nice to Haves:
Must haves:
  • University degree.
  • 5+ years business experience in medical device / health care industry experience finance, sales and marketing.
  • Fluent English required, additional local languages are an advantage.
  • Ability to travel internationally with limited advance notice.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and in a very dynamic environment.
  • Effective leadership in the development of business strategies, tactics and solutions.
  • Advanced financial modeling and computer skills.
  • Strong leadership and delegation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize rapidly in a fast paced, dynamic environment with short deadlines.

  • An ability to work with all levels of management. 
Nice to haves
  • MBA degree - preferably with marketing, business development and medical professional or industry experience.
